Help - outfit for family photo

We’re having our first ever family photo shoot with a professional. It was a 40th birthday present for my husband.

I’m totally stuck on what to wear. I know people will say neutrals but I’m not really a neutrals sort of person. I love bright colours and prints. I know I want to feel comfortable and not too formal but not scruffy.

I’m a size 16 and don’t want to show much flesh as I think that looks weird on photos anyway.

Any ideas? Thank you!

I can't imagine why anyone would say neutrals anyway, but even more so if you don't wear that normally! Is the shoot outdoors /indoors/plain white background? Formal/informal? What will everyone else be wearing or have they not decided yet? We have had a couple done over the years and I have worn a mid blue dress, a petrol blue dress and a burgundy sweater dress (I look better in dresses than trousers).

@GolfForBrains - I’ve been looking at articles online and they all talk about neutrals weirdly.
It will be indoors with a plain backdrop (grey, white, black probably - they have a number of options).

Quite informal but still with a few posed shots. Youngest is only a toddler so number of formal shots we will get will be limited I expect! Photographer seems good at getting natural interaction even in a studio setting.

I am responsible for dressing everyone as DH is colour blind so he’s assuming I will know better what looks good together. Starting with myself as there are already a few different possibilities for the kids depending on what I choose. Then DH will just fit in!
