Uneven hair cut? Blunt cut

Can’t tell if this is a stupid question but…

if you ask the hairdresser for a blunt straight cut, when you tie it up in a pony tail would it all be one similar length or would it be normal for the ponytail to have some hair much shorter than the rest?

I think some would be shorter as you gather it up into a ponytail so some at the bottom has further to go than the bits on top. Not sure this makes sense but hard to describe.

It won't look blunt in a pony tail, if that's what you mean? Do you have a picture?

Depending on how short the blunt cut is, like a bob, the hair at the back of your head and behind your ears may be very short, and might not be able to go into a pony tail at all. My hair is jaw length but the hair at the back is about an inch and a half long.

It will be uneven because when "down" the hair all one length . When in a ponytail some hair has to reach further than other bits of hair. So I agree with @AnchorWHAT a blunt cut into a pony tail - the ends might look blunt but won't all be the same length. I think the shorter the hair cut the more noticeable it will be. But if a decent cut it will still look nice

@Haircut199 @GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut I think I was trying to say what Granny said. 😊

The top layer of hair will be longer than the hair underneath as it has longer to go to the blunt cut at the bottom, so no, it won't work in reverse going up to a ponytail.

If it's different on one side of the ponytail to the other, it may be a wonky cut.

I have to be careful with my cuts as I have uneven shoulders, so if they cut using them as a length guide, it's slightly wonky, so your anatomy can make a difference too.
