Jumpsuit to a black tie event?

Hi,
Has anyone been to a black tie event recently, in the UK, were many people wearing jumpsuits?

I like the one below but I'm not sure is it's suitable for a black tie event?

Any thoughts?

All black tie events I have been to over the last few years have been much more dressy with long dresses for ladies! That looks much too casual to me I’m afraid!

This Me & Em one has been worn by a few celebs to red carpet and black tie events, I'd say yours would need to have full length trousers to be more black tie appropriate...

Thank you for your replies. I am going to Henley festival this week, I've seen some pictures from previous years, and some ladies do seem to be wearing shorter dresses, which I was surprised to see, and open toed shoes as well.

For Henley festival you can definitely wear shorter, although they say black tie, it's definitely more relaxed than 'London hotel' black tie.

Glad you asked this Op, I am also going to Henley festival.

I could do full length jumpsuit or shorter (dip hem not short short) dress… don’t have a suitable full length dress. I am guessing shoes need to be on the practical side (standing on grass maybe??) so that may determine choice

Yes, as a general rule you can wear a formal jumpsuit to a black tie event, especially in the daytime. Black tie is not really that formal for women, and can include cocktail-length dresses or an evening trouser suit as well as full-length dresses. Full-length dresses are only really required for white tie, although of course you can wear one to a black tie event if you wish. I went to a Cambridge May ball this year and saw one young woman in an incredible tailored jumpsuit which was was perfect for the white tie dress code.

Just double-check that the Henley Festival allows ladies in trousers. The regatta only started allowing them a couple of years ago🙄

Which day are you going on? I'll be going tomorrow. I'm thinking of wearing mid heels, wedges or shoes, for comfort

I've got a gorgeous full length red velvet jumpsuit that I've worn to 2 black tie events and it fitted right in.

I think for a day event like Henley your dress will look great. As always these things it will need to be properly accessorised but I'm sure you are on to that.

Yep I’m going tomorrow too! I’ll be in something navy (all my options are navy Grin) and white strappy wedges.

Oh but I’m not going for the day. Just the evening

I went to Henley Festival a few years ago. I wore a heavily beaded midi dress. Some ladies were in full length and some just below knee. Open toe shoes were acceptable too.
Have a great time- it was so much fun!

Red velvet sounds lovely. I've got a nice handbag & jewellery so I think that 's the accessories covered
