Hi wonderful kind people

I have a school reunion (20 yr!) on Friday night, I have only just read the instructions and it's Black Tie dinner in a London hotel!! What!

I need dress recommendations quickly!

  • Size 16, c section tum but suit things with a clear waist as once upon a time was an hourglass
  • Needs bra so no backless, some sort of sleeve even if cap / short
  • Midi or maxi or ankle grazer
  • Need to feel WONDERFUL as have lost all confidence. When I last saw these people I was a size 10!
  • Could spend up to £250 for something amazing
  • Brown hair. Like black, navy, red but open minded.

Anyone got an ideas? Yours eternally great full,
Friday Dress Lady (yes I got the date wrong on my burner username!)

Oh I do quite like that. Seems very wearable. I'd usually have something more fitted on the top. Wondering if sequins takes real confidence? Thank you for searching

It's dreadful. The Monsoon dress is by far and away the nicest suggested so far.

CalamityClam · 03/07/2023 20:36

I love it!

I like this!

Yes it is. The Monsoon dress still beats it hands down.

Not NEARLY wow enough.

snoozingbaby1476 · 03/07/2023 20:42

I feel like the monsoon dress is my least favourite. High neck & long makes me think it's a bit grumpy. Also I don't think it defines the waist very well.
Love the other 2

NatashaDancing · 03/07/2023 20:43

saturdaydressmare · 03/07/2023 20:41

Not as good as the other Monsoon one. I'm looking but can't find anything in your budget which beats it.

8008less · 03/07/2023 20:43

That Needle and Thread dress is it, for sure. You’ll feel amazing.

doingmyboxin · 03/07/2023 20:45

Sorry, but I think you could do much better than the Monsoon dress!

DailyCake · 03/07/2023 20:45

Too fussy and will only work on a 20yo size 10.
The phase8 one is elegant and simple.

8008less · 03/07/2023 20:45

Also I would recommend having your hair professionally done, even if just a blow dry. That always makes me feel special and glam.

stickygotstuck · 03/07/2023 20:46

I do like the Phase 8 one. Elegant and special.
And seems perfect for your body shape as described.

saturdaydressmare · 03/07/2023 20:47

The Monsoon high neck also concerns me.

Have booked a blow dry! Considering nails too which I don't normally do.

To summarise:

  • some people love the monsoon
  • the needle and thread is Marmite
