Another "what to wear to a wedding" question

More "what would YOU wear to this wedding?"

South of England, early September. Not a church do. My understanding is that we (OH and I) have been invited by the bride's mum, who is my OHs sister, and NOT by the happy couple. OH and I hardly know happy couple.

I was going to treat myself to a very pretty and rather pricey dress that I'd seen online but we've just been told that it's "not a "wedding" wedding" -- very informal, hog roast, no bridesmaids, I've no idea what the bride is wearing - her mum doesn't seem to know, but I think it's safe to bet it won't be a big white number.

I now feel that I don't want to splash out on a new outfit and maybe something from my pre-existing wardrobe will do. And I know that none of you knows the contents of my wardrobe! So my question is, what sort of stuff would you wear to a wedding like this?

Any ideas?

I'd want to wear a floral maxi I've HD for a while but don't currently fit into! It's chiffon layers but not too flouncey, a nice cut (not a sack).

But I'd try to find out from your OH's sister what she is wearing- are the men wearing lounge suits, for example?

She doesn't appear to know anything about any sort of dress code, even an informal one! The happy couple are a pair of independent adults who seem to be getting wed without any external input.

I'd just wear a summery day dress, probably a wrap dress with wedges.
