What suit colour for a man looks nicer?

This is for a man under 35 to wear to functions like weddings, formal events etc..

Which one do you think looks the nicest and what colour shoes would you say goes with grey and navy suits?

Personally the blue wool one. Won't look dated quickly and if he spills anything it won't show! Black shoes, although my husband has a gorgeous pair of navy blue Italian suede shoes which also look good with navy suits or trousers.

Navy looks the best on any skin and hair colouring i think. Looks nice with dark brown shoes and belt. Can go with a pink shirt and floral tie, or something more muted.

Surely it depends on his build, hair colour, eye colour, skin tone.
I'm really pale and red headed, if I put a yellow dress on it completely washes me out, my olive skinned dark haired cousin looks great in yellow

I like blue but think shoes are tricky. Can't wear brown with a formal suit and can't wear black with blue....go for black though!

I agree with Whataretheodds. Navy or charcoal.

He could try both and see which suits his colouring better. One or other is pretty much bound to suit any colouring - possibly both.

Surely wool will be too warm in the summer
Checked suits are on trend at the moment but I think (hope!) it will pass quite soon
Will it just be for social events? Where I work, "no brown in town" is still muttered by the more traditional if someone wears brown shoes.

Definitely the dark blue wool with either black shoes or if he's more casual, very, very dark brown ones.

The check grey suits remind me more of ECTs with yellow ties and boundless enthusiasm.
