Boots like New Rock, available to purchase online. Can you recommend something please?

I promised 16yr old DD that I'd add to her saved money and buy her some boots as a post GCSE gift. She wants them for prom ideally (one week today). We went into the local city and couldn't find anything. I thought Schuh would at least have something but could only find one pair - www.schuh.co.uk/womens/buffalo-london-ava-lace-up-black-boots/1580007060/ - and she likes them but would prefer leather. The shop I thought would help has closed down.

There are a lot available online but I don't know about half the sites. TrustPilot keeps telling me I'd be better off posting my money down a drain.

New Rock are so pricey so wondered if there was something under £200! Under £150 if possible.

She wants knee high, clumpy, loves a platform, likes some detail. I shop almost solely in charity shops and DD does love eBay and Vinted so buying new is a bit of a blur.

Pretty quick shipping and reputable are key.

Hopeful bump.

I don't think there's anything as good as New Rocks if that's your thing to be honest. Lots of shops in Camden sell them. Are any of them on line?

SocksAndTheCity · 30/06/2023 20:08

Do they have to be new? There are a few pairs on eBay.

I've just realised I've now had mine for 25 years, so they're well worth the money Smile

ShowOfHands · 30/06/2023 21:19

I've been looking at eBay but the ones she likes are pretty well worn and £170 ish and I figured for that money, something new must be available. Not opposed to eBay at all.

Try demonia

Kingfishersperch · 30/06/2023 21:24

Bear 202 are comfy (demonia)

There used to be an American brand, they are daintier 🤣 than new rocks, I’ll see if I can find them.

But New rocks are amazing and last for years. I have far too many in my cupboard!

Diversion · 30/06/2023 21:24

Demonia have great boots as @Kingfishersperch says. Have a look at Attitude Clothing and Alternative Footwear

Kingfishersperch · 30/06/2023 21:28

Koi boots come up a fair bit, I’ve never bought any (unless they rebranded my American imports). The American ones were so cheap and really nice. Dolls kill have an amzing psychedelic pair - I’m a bit old but they are lovely.

Kingfishersperch · 30/06/2023 21:35

The first one I posted has a London address. You may be able to do street view to see if they really exist. Then call them to see if they exist, but order online so it’s easy to return etc.
Ive ordered from Camden shops for delivery before.

New rock boots are amazing! I have a treasured pair that my teenagers are wearing. They are frightening expensive but on pound per use calculation they are an absolute bargain

Sadcatface · 02/07/2023 02:45

They don’t tend to have detail, but if you are looking for a boot that lasts I’d recommend Solovair. My mum bought me their 20 eye knee high black boots when I was 16 - I’m now coming up for 31 and they still look new! Last year I bought myself a pair of 11 eye steel cap boots, they’re in the men’s section but I’m a 6 and a size 6 was perfect. The leather is great, especially the Gaucho leather - they do need a tin of dubbin to keep them clean though. Very comfy and transition well from full on goth to days when I need to tone it down a bit!

I’d love a pair of New Rocks but these days, with Dr Martens lowering their quality, I’m too worried shelling out for something that has a lot of detailed components that might not stand the test of time. I’m interested to know whether they’re as just as good as they used to make them - as a teenager I borrowed my friend’s pair once and god, they were comfy

She wears Docs as her usual footwear and wants something more gothy/a bit different and absolutely loves New Rocks.

We've been at a festival all weekend, with really patchy internet so have been trying to look at links.

We've found some awesome Demonia boots on Attitude clothing but every pair she likes aren't available in her size or only in men's sizes and I don't know what it corresponds to in her size. She has difficult feet at the best of times.

I'm going to try and have a proper look now (nipped home for a shower and decent tea) before we head out again. Otherwise, we are in Norfolk so could possibly get out to Cambridge tomorrow if there are any alt shops there?

For New Rocks try

www.emp.co.uk
and
www.katesclothing.co.uk

also have you looked at getting them direct from New Rock as they have a sale on their website?

Koi and Killstar make boots that look good but the quality is not great, a lot cheaper than New Rocks though.

We have managed to find the perfect pair. Thank you so much for the recommendations. She chose New Rocks in the end from a link above. She's also nicked my favourite vintage Laura Ashley purple velvet dress and is putting together her prom outfit as I type! She's been and had her very sensible school approved hair cut into a very crazy Mohawk/mullet and bleached it blonde. It's quite the change. She's very quiet, unassuming, head girl, bookish and suddenly, she's finished GCSE and gone all out. I don't think they'll recognise her at prom.

Her outfit and footwear sound amazing, I hope that she has the most brilliant time and I have to say that you sound like an amazing Mum too 😄

orangeflags · 05/07/2023 15:08

Glad she got the New Rocks. Their customer service is brilliant too if anything goes wrong with the boots.
