What colour handbag would you choose?

Going to DD's graduation soon. I have a dress with an off-white background and a blue/turquoise/pink/tan flower/leaf pattern. I've got some blue shoes that would go perfectly with it, but due to the fact there's nowhere to park near graduation and a long walk from the bus, I want to take some comfy shoes for the walk, as well as umbrella, water, essentials so have accepted I'm buying a larger bag.

I think blue would be better to go with my shoes, but don't particularly like blue bags so wouldn't use it too much in the future. Just wondering what colour anyone else would chose?

Alternatively, I do have some black shoes I could get away with, and already have a black bag that ticks the boxes. I was going to wear a smart baby cardigan, but also have the same one in black. So I'd forget navy and go for black.

I’d not go with the black as the dress sounds quite summery and black shoes and accessories would, in my opinion, just look out of place and be too harsh.

I think black aslong as they are sandals and quite strappy or maybe have a wooden/cork heel if that makes sense to pick up on the tan in the dress and maybe go for a large straw black tote bag! Or you could do tanned or brownish coloured sandals with a lovely large tanned tote bag! I agree with you on blue bags unless it's vibrant turquoise or something!

If I were you I'd put the shoes I intended to wear in any supermarket plastic bag, and carry them separately from my main handbag.

Wear these to walk and then swap shoes over. These fold up and take no space in a handbag. They come with their own fold up carrier bag.

You don't really need to take water to a graduation ceremony and if an umbrella was needed that can just be carried.

I have a yellow leather tote bag. Surprisingly versitile, goes with almost anything and very summery. I also find my pale pink handbag goes with almost everything xx

If in doubt I always reach for my 80s Coach brown/tan suede handbag with brass fittings. I've got lots of bags in varying colours (blue, black, white, red) but that's the one that goes with anything. There's something about the brown suede that just blends with other colours.

Definitely not black with that. I would go neutral or light tan shoes and bag with that.

Why can't you just wear comfortable shoes that go with the dress, which is nice? Then you can take whatever bag you like.

Neither the shoes nor the bag need to be in the photos. If you are going to spend money, have your hair done.

A neutral bag the same shade as the background maybe. I love the dress.

I’m of the opinion that tan goes with almost everything, but even though it has tan in it, I don’t think that would work with this dress. I think I’d look for teal, navy or deep pink.
