New hairdresser - any tips?

I have a love hate thing with hairdressers. Takes me a while to find one I like. I don't use a hairdrier, I hate the drowned rat look I get with straighteners. So how do I get a new hairdresser to understand that I'm not going to spend hours drying my hair (that's what the fan in the car does). And how do you get a hairdresser to suggest a workable style? I'm assuming the photos in the salon magazines are all the result of hours with a hairdryer .... My appointment is Saturday ...

Don't you just say exactly this to them. That you want a low maintenance style that is wash and wear. I would say though it depends on your hair type how realistic this is.

@user1477249785 thank you. I'll be more upfront maybe and make that the first thing I say. How do I find out if my hair type suits that? I've not found a hairdresser who wants to express an opinion upfront (but nearly all then go on to put layers in the back which when you've got fine hair and don't use a hairdrier means you end up looking like a bloody scarecrow and even scruffier after the cut than before.... 🙂)
