Yoga pants (for yoga!) for size 16 apple...

I have recently taken up yoga. So far so good. I've been wearing normal leggings but want to get something more comfortable as the weather heats up. When I look up "yoga pants" online, I get mostly trousers with a sort of bootcut which I think are nice, but is that practical for yoga? Don't they start falling down and being annoying while you're lying with one leg up behind you or whatever?

Also, I'm a very traditional apple, carrying a lot of weight on my waist. I want them therefore to be high wasted so I don't expose my belly!

Can anyone make recommendations please on what will be comfortable and at least vaguely nice to look at?

I used to get ones from next, they had a double layer waist bit that folded down to sit on you waist or you could lift up and it would sit higher, so just under your ribs. They gave a lot of coverage to your belly. They were more bootcut and they did fall to your knee if raising your leg. It wasn’t overly annoying though.
I now wear m & s straight joggers, they do a longer length that is perfect for me. I’m struggling to remember if they also slide down, maybe not much because I’m not remembering being annoyed about it and I only did yoga this morning. If I get the chance to squeeze a quick yoga in tomorrow I will take note and report back.

I love my sweaty betty Gary yoga pants.

I am also a size 16 apple and carry a lot of weight on my waist - I also happen to be a yoga teacher!
Having tried everything the only leggings I buy and wear for yoga are the Lululemon Super High Waist Aligns. I find the sweaty betty ones are a bit constrictive around the waist and also tend to roll down -the aligns are comfortable and stay firmly up. I also tend to wear a thin vest which I tuck into the waistband and that seems to help stop any unwanted movement.

They are pricier but they do last, lovely buttery soft material and very mobile, not restrictive at all in my practice. They also have good coverage on the arse so that your pants dont shine through - this seems to be a new issue with the sweaty betty ones too as the fabric has changed and not for the better.
Just take care to wash them on a cool wash with NO fabric conditioner, scent balls, dettol cleanser etc - just a wee bit of normal detergent. Air dry. The fabric conditioner messes with the technical fabric which makes them start to smell.
Lots of nice colours and lengths available, always worth looking at the 'we made too much' section of the website. They really are the only leggings I will practice in and the same goes for many of my yoga teacher friends.

Fwiw op, the ones I linked don’t slip down much, mid calf at most.

Thank you for this. I'd actually looked at these trousers as an influencer I follow is a big fan too. So this might the push I need.

Thank you also to everyone else for ideas. I will continue to look around too.

Yes size 12 usually

The M&S yoga leggings are very good. The waist band is a kind of cross over so it doesn’t dig in like some do.

Leggings are best for yoga, I find anything baggies just gets in my way. I like the brand CRZ yoga on amazon - they are lovely and soft like the lululemon ones but much cheaper

Sorry I know this is a late reply but I also second the lulu align pants.. the only thing I will say is that they do pill a bit over time. They are so comfortable though. Decathlon also has some decent priced, comfortable options. There's also a site that reviews yoga clothing Yoga Clothing reviews UK - might be helpful? Good luck!!
