Size 14 and above - can I see your style?

After being a size 10 for most of my adult life I developed some health problems and put on a considerable amount of weight. I'm now a size 14 and weigh around 11.7 - 12 stones (I'm reluctant to step on the scales so this is just a rough estimate) which is just too much for my 5 ft 2 height.

I don't feel comfortable in any of the nicer things I used to wear because they don't bloody fit and I'm struggling to adjust to my new body shape. I don't feel like 'me' if that makes sense?

That being said, I've seen women much bigger than I am who look absolutely fantastic and v stylish so I know there's more to looking good than just being slim.

Like the 'what are you wearing today' and 'shop your wardrobe' threads would anybody who is a size 14 and above care to share some outfit / style inspo?

I'm in a similar boat! I'm a pear shape :)

You have just described me too. I never struggled with my weight until about 5 years ago and am now similar to you. I spent the first few years buying virtually no clothes as 'I'll wait until I lose the extra 2 stone' bit I think I need to accept it now. But have lost my way completely. Like you, I see women of my size and larger who look amazing and really stylish - but I haven't achieved that. I think I haven't mentally adjusted to my 'new' shape and I can't seem to try clothes on without being super critical.
I think often the women who look fantastic don't try and hide their bodies in drapy black clothes that hide their belly and wear bright colours with real confidence - and as you say, they have found what style works for them. I, like you haven't!! Watching with interest!

Size 14 really isn't a massive size so much that you need to dress in a particular way for it. You don't need to change your style - just buy bigger sizes?

@OffensiveEyelash I am still following your thread with interest. I acknowledge as you do that 14 isn't particularly overweight but I also agree going that going from one body shape to another and the mental adjustment of that is difficult. I would love to see some people on here who have found their style as I still haven't!

Similar has happened to me, I'm still mostly wearing jeans/cargo pants and fairly fitted t-shirts, plus zip hoodie (for hanging around at home with kids) or coloured jeans/smarter top/velvet or cord jacket/fancy necklace (for work).

However! This summer I have decided that shorts and t-shirt is not really working and I have got a selection of skater dresses from Popsy for the very hot weather, with their bright tights-fabric "underpop" shorts for underneath. They have a website but the dresses are also readily available on EBay/Vinted etc.

They are smart enough to be seen in public with a belt and suitable shoes, but can also be gathered up and tied in a knot round your bum in the splashpad (underpops permitting) and be dry by the time you've walked home. I have some of the brighter ones (dinosaurs etc) but they also do plain and more sophisticated patterns.

I'm a 14, occasionally a 16. I wear dresses almost all the time, occasionally a skirt. I don't wear jeans or trousers because I don't like them, not because I'm a size 14.

I work in an office where the formal dress code has almost vanished and most people are very dressed down in (scruffy) jeans. These are the dresses I wore this week. This is fairly representative of my wardrobe.

I'm in scamp and dude or Popsy summer dresses with some Amazon chin rub shorts underneath.
After being ill I piled on the pounds too with new medication. I also have a big scar down my abdomen and tailored clothes are just too uncomfortable in the heat. I've had lots of compliments about the dresses. Some people thought I had actually lost weight. I definitely haven't but I'm dressing better and it is hidden more.

I'm a 16/18
The only things I don't really wear are high neck stuff due to boobs and anything I can't get a full bra under! Wear a lot of dresses, and "jeans and a top" type stuff
