Fringe ? Quite like the idea but never had one

I've finally booked a hair appointment for next week after 2 years. My hair is currently bra strap length dyed chestnut brown and I straighten it. I wear thick black nerdy glasses. It just hangs there.
Would I be mad to go for it? I like these

They look nice. What I would say though is that they will require much more regular trims that every 2 years. Some places will trim it for free in-between cuts but they assume you're having an actual cut fairly regularly.

I'm trying to get into do more things for myself. I've started getting facials and lash lifts so I thought I'd get my hair done as well.

I had a full fringe cut in for the first time in 10+ years last year. It irritated the crap out of me, it was just the feeling of having something on my eyebrows all the time. I'm now (still) growing it out. I was so disappointed as I'd grown up having a fringe, and I'd had more side swept fringes more recently (although maybe 5ish years ago).

i think the images you’ve posted look great! Bear in mind it’ll need trimming regularly, about once a month. A lot salons will let you get it trimmed for free if you’re an existing client as long as you tip the stylist.

Worth pointing out that if your hair isn’t naturally straight, getting it to hang nicely like that isn’t easy even with straighteners. Also speaking from experience, if your hair doesn’t naturally part to the side like in those pictures, it’s not as easy as it sounds forcing it to!

It depends on your face proportions, nose and jawline whether it would work or not. The tiniest difference in direction or length of a fringe can give very different results you have to be precise and know what you're doing.
I wouldn't get a fringe in this heat. I would wait until October.
The woman you posted with glasses is young and very cute, it can also look like Ugly betty or Velma of Scooby Doo with thick statement eyeglasses.
It's not guaranteed to look great but it might. If you end up hating your fringe, it will take ages to grow out and you will need to style it with headbands or hair pins while it goes through the seemingly eternal stage of growing out a fringe.
I suggest you try the fake fringe trick (high topknot, bring the hair ends to your forehead and curly with hair straightener) to give yourself a fake fringe or try a fringe extension or wig.

The pluses to counteract all the doom and gloom in my Debbie Downer comment above, a fringe can take YEARS off your face and draws attention to your eyes. Maybe it's increased confidence, but I got a lot of attention with I had a fringe, it can look really cute or sexy and mysterious depending on how you style it.
With the parting issue, I trained my cows lick by combing my hair when it's soaking wet so the parting sets the way I want it. Airdrying even if for 5 minutes would set the cow's lick.

I love my fringe! Takes years off me. Best thing my old hairdresser ever did was persuade me to have it cut back in. Yes, regular trimming can be a bit of a pain but my current hairdresser gives free trims between full cuts. My hair is naturally straight though, so apart from the odd rogue morning where I wake up looking like I’ve auditioned for That Scene in There’s Something About Mary, it does tend to behave itself.
