How much would you to pay this haircut and colour?

My hair is currently half way down my back and salon dyed light/ashy blonde.

I love my hairdresser however I do find I have paid a lot more than expected in the past.
She is lovely but I find my colours have always been quite basic without much depth. However I don't know if I am totally unrealistic in my expectations!

How much would I expect to pay for this cut and colour?

Also, is this colour easily achievable?

Thank you 😊

Best advice to go and speak to 2/3 other salons.

Suprima · 26/06/2023 14:09

£150-200

Mortgagewoes1 · 26/06/2023 14:10

£140

cocksstrideintheevening · 26/06/2023 14:12

Where are you?

£180-£200 here

cocksstrideintheevening · 26/06/2023 14:12

Also when you say dyed do you mean one colour or highlights / low lights / balayage?

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 26/06/2023 14:13

At least £140 here.

TheMurderousGoose · 26/06/2023 14:14

£150 for that in Glasgow

goodmother90 · 26/06/2023 14:17

I have something similar and paid £180

strawberrycheesecakes · 26/06/2023 15:07

Thank you.

Last time I had a trim and full head of foils and that was £200. That was for a basic-ish colour. I did ask for something similar to above but not quite as obvious.

This time I want quite a lot cutting off and this colour as my hair always seems to look quite natural afterwards which isn't the look I'm going for. I'm just so worried for the cost seeing as it was £200 last time for what I thought was quite a straightforward dye job whereas I assume the above photo is a balayage

LadyJ2023 · 26/06/2023 15:17

Could be anything between 200-300 at ours tbh

Bargoed · 26/06/2023 16:01

Thats quite a complex multi stage balayage with bleached lights that have been toned and lowlights especially if that level 6 base is not natural.

It's a 5isg hour job and £180 - £250 with anyone with enough experience to do it

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 26/06/2023 16:06

About £75 where I live

pushnpull · 26/06/2023 16:13

Around £300.

Haircuts tend to be a fixed price (at least in the salon I go to), but it's the colour that is always the variable.

Am possibly in the minority but I don't think the colour is great. To my eye, it's a mix of balayage and ombre, and not a very good one of either. It's far too stripy.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 26/06/2023 16:21

Cost for hair cuts/colour can vary massively however in my experience if you want a colour and cut job that looks incredible, styles well and easily for you and not just your stylist and could that grows out invisible IYSWIM then I'd go for the most you can afford

So many people I know who get a cheap salon colour have virtually got stripes on their hair and when it grows out it looks dreadful

East Mids here and I have 1/2 head highlights which together with cut and blow dry I pay £110 twice a year. My stylist is a bloody genius and does it in a way you cannot tell when it's growing out. I ❤️ her!

Btw I adore that colour OP

strawberrycheesecakes · 26/06/2023 16:32

@Bargoed

Thank you for explaining that so well!

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz

Yes that's one thing my hairdresser doesn't do is make it stripey!! My hair looks very natural after I've been but I prefer the obvious colour look 😂 maybe it's me!!

I love her I just sometimes feel that she doesn't quite get the colours right but I don't know if I am asking too much!!

Bargoed · 26/06/2023 16:52

Honestly its pretty but looks better than it is as its been waved and well light from what I can see to emphasise the dimension perhaps even edited a little

Aria999 · 26/06/2023 22:25

Have you told her you want it to look dramatic, not natural?

I just paid $269 plus tip (USA) for a cut and balayage from a senior stylist but it's really going to depend on local prices.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/06/2023 23:43

I'm a dark, ashy blonde (natural colour was rodent and now greying)

My hairdresser usually puts through, blonde and darker blonde in foils and touches up the hair not in the foils with light brown.

£130-£180 every 6/7 weeks with a cut and b/dry.

That's v cheap for SW London. Never had balayage.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/06/2023 23:44

By the way @strawberrycheesecakes I think your hair looks lovely.

strawberrycheesecakes · 26/06/2023 23:47

@RosesAndHellebores

My hairdresser normally does a 'root extend' then foils.

Thank you but unfortunately this isn't my hair...yet (hopefully!) 😊

PurplePear7 · 26/06/2023 23:47

I’d say around £200 for the cut and colour, but will depend on the existing colour. It’s not cheap!

strawberrycheesecakes · 26/06/2023 23:48

@Aria999

No I haven't told her that but I always show her photos and they tend to be quite dramatic colours. I just hate the natural look on my hair as I never seem to be able to get the right blonde! I have warm undertones so it eventually ends up looking golden and I just don't like it 😂

OP posts:
strawberrycheesecakes · 26/06/2023 23:50

@PurplePear7

I've definitely underestimated and under appreciated how much it actually costs!!
