Dress for a night out

Early 40s, going on a hen night where karaoke and a nightclub have been mentioned. Have not been to a club in years.

I don’t want to look like some kind of out of touch mum of young kids (which is what I am really). Please help me find an outfit. It’s in August so probably warm.

Body - size 8/10, 5ft 1, pear shape. Don’t like my thighs or tops of arms so nothing super short or sleeveless. Boobs are fine. Nothing that is super clingy on lower stomach- it’s got a bit of a c-section pouch, my waist is small so something that highlights this would be great.

any suggestions welcome! And what shoes?! I can’t teeter around in high heels all night. Would some flatform sandals be too casual for a club?!

How about a jumpsuit?

Having just gone through a local party city when people are warming up then I can say that I spotted people in tight dresses and heels but I saw more of the casual kind of dresses that people wear during the day just maybe elevated by wedges or sandals rather than trainers.I’d find something that you can do the same top and then buy yourself some summery accessories instead.

Thanks. I wouldn’t rule out a jumpsuit but that one I think I would wear to work rather than out clubbing.

NO! They look so naff plus so tricky if you need a piss while pissed.

No idea why jumpsuits are so loved on here they are really hard to get right.

Polyester nightmare

Thanks for the suggestions. The dresses from next also look like something I’d wear to work rather than on a night out.

The casual maxi dress is a bit too casual- I have loads of those for every day wear. I’d like something a bit more fitted and to make me feel a bit more glam than usual.
