Can you help me accessorise this black dress for a wedding?

I have a wedding to go to next weekend.

This is the dress I will be wearing - I know black for weddings is a thing feel strongly against, but the dress isn’t up for debate. It is fine for the style/ venue of the wedding, the bride is one of my oldest friends and has assured me she thinks it’s lovely and appropriate (pretty sure she wore black to mine but I’d have to check the photos to remember for sure!). It’s the only thing I have currently that I feel comfortable and vaguely attractive in - I’ve returned everything else I ordered to try because it looked hideous (put on weight which I’m working on). I’m out of time/ budget now to get anything else, and besides I love this dress.

It looks really pretty on, the bottom is quite floaty and the spots stand out more than the picture shows. It’s quite a deep v and I’m quite busty, but the fabric can kind of be rearranged to keep it decent!

So that aside - what do I wear with it? It’s obviously a height of summer wedding, but in a fancy city centre hotel and will be all happening indoors as far as I know.

Im tempted to put brightly coloured wrap/ shoes/ bag of some kind with it (seen some nice and vaguely affordable hot pink options) but I’m probably showing my age there - does black plus bright colour look a bit naff/ dated now?

I have silver shoes and bag, and already have gold shoes, bag and pashmina - would that work?

How would you style it?

I won’t be doing anything in my hair I don’t think - I did consider a jewelled hairband thing but I looked like a knob!

I have blondey brown hair (bronde?!), hazel eyes, quite rosey complexion but slightly tanned at the moment.

If I could do something to cover my upper arms for the day part I’d be happy, I don’t love my upper arms but can live with them.

Can you help me accessorise this black dress for a wedding?

If you have bronde hair and brown eyes, I'd go gold accessories. A chunky gold necklace and/or maybe a nice gold cuff bracelet and gold bag. Black and gold look amazing together. I'd go with a pashmina rather than a shrug as I think a shrug would ruin the shape of the dress. Chunky bracelets make your arms look smaller in comparison

I'd go colour. Any colour that makes you happy. Bright pink sounds amazing with perhaps a pink clutch and shoes.

Cream is very classy with black. Beautiful dress.

Dress is lovely @helpmegetdressed I’d go gold accessories. Do you need a wrap/ pashmina if it’s going to be hot? Won’t you just end up holding it?

Thanks all! I think I will probably go gold/ cream however I’m going to pop to the shop where I saw the pink stuff just for another look before I make a final decision.

Def cream and gold. Classy.

I think a bright pink would cheapen it tbh.
