OP posts:
nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 18:00

you have to stroke it on. don't rub it in.

if you have dry skin apply moisturiser before you use it but if not don't bother. then stroke it on and let it sort of sit on your face. you need to apply your foundation pretty much straight after you've applied. by the time you've applied your foundation the balm should have absorbed into the skin and you can apply concealer and the rest of your make up.

MrsBadger · 22/02/2008 19:03

oh good, someone else

I took the plunge and asked my jetsetting sis to get me the Guerlain Midnight Secret stuff in the hopes it will de-haggard me of a monday morning.

even duty free it cost a packet

lachesis · 22/02/2008 19:03

You are worth it.

fishie · 22/02/2008 19:05

oooooh mrsb. nigella uses that.

pukka what have you bought? it is a bit scary lashing out but i seldom really regret it, usually lasts longer than cheap stuff so works out better value in the end.

MrsJohnCusack · 22/02/2008 19:12

me too recently
I have to order Benefit stuff and get it sent from the US at even more vast expense. which means I buy even more to make it 'worth it'
plus bought the entire range of some Australian organic skin and hair care label
plus other things

have decided that it's time to start taking better care or else I'm going to start looking old and haggard

SilentTerror · 22/02/2008 19:19

Have just booked a 'facial' for tomorrow and eyebrow shape. Was a bit taken aback at the price tbh!
I must definitely be worth it!

DarthVader · 22/02/2008 19:21

pukka what did you get?

pukkapatch · 23/02/2008 11:16

just being arguing rather senselessly with dh about tiffany rings.
i bought, and i do mean spent a fortune:
from mac
foundation
concealer
lipstick
two eyeshadows
blusher
three brushes, (eye blender, blusher, and foundation brush)
brush cleaner liquid, (well, having spent a fortune, i thought i might as well spend the extra 8 quid to clean the brushes ) total 163

from clinique
three step system, plus extra moisturiser to put on top of the daily moisturiser. total: 94

i cannot buy anything else now for many many years.
in my slight defense, i did need the foundation, as absolutly none left. blushers i have are at least three years old, and the brushes are an investment(?) and i am 35. if i dont take care of the skin i have, cant really get another one can i?

pukkapatch · 23/02/2008 11:18

i adore benefit. went through a phase of them a few years ago. love theri packaging specially. [blush[

ooo, forgot the face powder from mac as well.

DarthVader · 23/02/2008 19:18

Are you wearing it all already?
If so, and if you are pleased with it then I think you should congratulate yourself. I have a Benefit blow out from time to time but some things just sit around in my make up bag unused - they are what make me feel guilty !

Claire126 · 24/02/2008 13:16

You go girl, you're defo worth it.

It's about thime us ladies started to think of us rather than everyone else. How many times do you look after dh, ds, dd and who ever else comes along, and then when you sit down and think about it, who does it for us~!!!

I'm a therapist and the number of women who feel guilty about spending time and money of themselves "coz they should be buying dd or ds some shoes or a new something" is unreal.

Time for us is what I say, at least once a month anyway, whether it's a 30min facial or a new lipstick, get it done ladies, you are all definalty worth it. We all deserve the me time, you've produced children and looked after them, you cook, clean the house and go out to work, so lets reward ourselves!!!!

BeauLocks · 24/02/2008 13:18

I spend loads on skin care, make up, haircuts, pedicures etc etc.

It's worth it.

I am worth it.

You are worth it.

foxythesnowman · 24/02/2008 13:24

Ahh, Pukka - you see what you've done is redesigned your beauty routine properly. There's no point buying a bit here, a bit there, some gets stale, etc. No, what you have done is start from scratch and is very sensible. A worthy investment in my eyes.

Now, if I may have a wee hijack whilst you are all here, should I really bother with expensive creams etc if I'm not getting much sleep?
