Festival outfit

I’m going to Transmt in Glasgow in 3 weeks. I’m 42, 5ft 4, a curvy size 16 and have no idea what to wear. I hate having bare legs and I don’t like sleeveless tops. I’m hoping to wear my DMs as they’ll be comfortable and if it’s muddy, they’ll be a good choice. So something to go with some DM boots maybe?! I don’t want to look frumpy but I don’t want to look like I’m trying to recapture my youth either. I usually wear tea dresses with tights and DMs or trainers but I don’t think this will work at a festival. It’s been 18 years since I was last at a festival so I’m feeling a bit lost!

Could you go with a tea dress but 3/4 length black leggings and docs?

Or 3/4 length loose trousers, docs and a t shirt?

Docs, denim shorts and a t shirt
Or best dependent on weather.

Oh, I’m so here for this! Currently spending every waking hour considering options for My Festival Wardrobe. GrinHmm

@QueenBing Am envious if you're catching Pulp on the Friday night?

If you do end up down the t-shirt/vest route, these are apt:

Avoid jumpsuits or trailing skirt hems. A nightmare in the portaloos. Or just buy very cheap second-hand ones you don't mind getting filthy.

Don't forget your:

Reusable hooded rain poncho!
(Pretty much essential).

Sunblock/sun hat

Mosquito and tick repellent spray

(this one is especially good, DEET-free and gentle on skin but stayed put despite sweating from hours of outdoor summer party dancing in last year's heatwave!).

Lost in Music Women Black Vest

So, what did you wear, @QueenBing?

So, what did you wear, @QueenBing?

I wore a black lace body suit under a black corduroy pinafore (I wanted the pockets), black patterned fishnets, black DMs and a rainbow sequin jacket. And then a fetching disposable poncho because it rained non-stop from late afternoon and then all night. We had a brilliant time but I've realised I'm too old for festivals now!

Your outfit sounds great! And you’re probably just out of practice. You need to go to more festivals.

Festival weather is worrying me today. I’m imagining the endless hot summer evenings I saw on TV at Glastonbury - and have ordered shorts and a sleeveless dress for the start of August. But it’s pouring outside right now. And not that warm. More tweed jacket and heavy raincoat …
