Please help me decide between these two ghd hair dryers

I am looking to buy a new hair dryer. I can't tell the difference between these two hair driers tbh. I can see one is a set hence comes with more accessories and the other doesn't. I've got curly , shoulder length hair and I am looking to blow dry it dead straight and use my ghd straighter on a regular basis. Atm i am using a Philips hair dryer which is okay, but not great. Which of these two would you recommend please. Thanks x

i have just bought their new straightener which dries hair. does my hair better than anything i have had before - and if you straighten after drying g this will be better for your hair

Well in the kit the hairdryer is a 'GHD Air' and in the John Lewis link the hairdryer is a 'GHD Helios'.

You can see several comparisons by googlinv the difference I'm sure but the Helios is newer, has a different motor to the Air model that supposedly reduces drying time, seems to be a bit lighter etc. Hence the price difference.

I've had a GHD Air and think they're a bit overpriced and I found it noticeably heavy. I've also had a Dyson (didn't like it and sold it on). The best hairdryers I've had have all been Parlux.

I've never had a GHD hairdryer but I can recommend the Babyliss Platinum 2300 Hairdryer. I have very long and thick hair and this is the first Hairdryer that actually dries it, the downside is that it is heavy.

OneMoreCookieMonster · 17/06/2023 05:12

Helios - hands down the best dryer I've used in years.

MissSmiley · 17/06/2023 07:54

I was only talking to my hairdresser this week about hairdryers and she agreed Parlux is the one you want, they actually dry faster due to some technology and are salon quality

DreamItDoIt · 17/06/2023 08:56

Came on to say look at Parlux, although appreciate you didn't ask that!

Sorry to piggy back on this but what's your hair like naturally? How long does the Duet take to dry it? My hair is very Hagridy and I'm really contemplating this but it's so pricey.

OP, another vote for Parlux.

Sunshineboo · 17/06/2023 11:45

my hair is frizzy (especially as greys go through) i have thin hairs but lots and lots of it. it is quick - you hold it at the root for 2-3 seconds and pull down slowly.

if my hair has been towel dried first one dries it, it is ir more wet it takes two.

took a couple of times to get the hang of it
bit am very very happy.

i am using it with colour wow wonder hair stuff and have also tried the ghd hair oil that goes with it. i use the colour wow ever three times and tjr ghz hair oil i between

was v expensive but i like it v much x

Tittyfilarious81 · 17/06/2023 11:54

I have a Helios and I think it's fantastic, I had the ghd air previously and the Helios is definitely better

IrishMamaMia · 17/06/2023 14:09

I've had the air for a few years and I really love it. I have frizzy kinky hair and it really smooths it. Just needs a quick slick of irons afterwards and lasts for days. I imagine the helios is brilliant also.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 17/06/2023 14:14

Even my cats vote for Parlux over GHDs.

Bluebird1234 · 17/06/2023 14:20

I have just replaced a Parlux 3800 with a Ghd Helios. Pretty much of a muchness to me. Helios has more temperature and speed options. Good discount on Amazon just now

Thank Sunshine, I have lots of very fine hair too.

Daisiesanddahlias · 18/06/2023 09:50

Thank you all for replying. I will definitely look into the Parlux too. Hadn't even heard of it until this thread 😳

I have a parlux Alyon at home and really like it.

use GHD ones more regularly at gym due to life and find then really heavy and not as quick drying.

definitely look at parlux.
