Help me find DD(12) an outfit for summer party

DD (12) has a 'summer ball' coming up with her hobby. It's a meal and disco in a nice hotel, not too formal but probably not suitable to rock up wearing her usual leggings and t shirt! The boys she knows are going to wear dark jeans and a shirt.
She's not into clothes / make up at all and would not wear a typical party dress and heels. Any ideas? Maybe a simple dress that could be worn with trainers (trainer suggestions also welcome). Her style is much more skater girl than wannabe supermodel. She's petite and still wears kids clothes (age 11 ish).
We've not had school discos since before Covid when she was only 9 so we're a bit out of touch about what 12 year olds are wearing to such events!
Thanks 😊

Hi OP I have a 12 year old DD who lives in leggings and hoodies but still secretly likes a dress when the occasion calls for it!

Would something like a playsuit appeal ?

When my DD had her leavers party at end of year 6 we just scrolled through next using some age filters and I ordered a selection of things she liked the look of .

Here are a couple of things my DD might like -
Might just get the conversation started !

As far as trainers go, a lot of my DD's friends came to their P7 leavers prom in dresses with high top Converse.

Thanks for the ideas @weddingwisdom - she likes the look of the Lipsy one. Also love the converse idea @FionnulaTheCooler !

I was coming to say about Lipsy as well, lots of options and easy delivery with click and collect.
Zara often has interesting dresses too but they are less formal

My 11yo hates dresses and much prefers jumpsuits. For her year 6 leavers prom I’ve bought her a jumpsuit in a women’s size 8 (she’s tall). I found that shopping in the women’s section provided a lot more choice than childrenswear.

What about a jumpsuit-style two piece like this from H & M

Ooh yes, I think she'd like that.

Unfortunately my DD is too slight / short for women's clothes (she's only 146cm and very slight with no hips / boobs yet, so we're stuck with what's on offer children's departments (at least they're cheaper!).

New look is quite good for that age, there is quite a lot of choice and styles especially in the 915 range. My daughter liked the playsuits they had for family parties

Zara do a special occasion range various bits and pieces. I agree with the play suit/jumpsuit idea but you could look at separates too.

At her age and build years ago for parties I was between a Bananarama type style outfit (separates) or dresses with drop waists and then for family and friends winter parties it was whatever I thought was trendy.

Not linked but La Redoute has a nice kids range, my French friend living here got her DD (now 16!) clothes there a lot if she hadn’t been back to France.
