Help find shirts/ tops for 6ft 4in DS (24 yrs) ...

NormaSnorks · 14/06/2023 11:37

Yes, he's 24, and buys his own clothes...
No, I'm not a weird mum, still dressing her young adult child...

BUT

He is really struggling to find stuff that fits him and I just wonder if there are other places he could be looking?
Shops rarely have the 'Tall' ranges in stock, so it's all online and he keeps ordering stuff which isn't right, or fits badly etc:
He's 6ft 4 but has a really long torso, so maybe more like a 6ft 5 or 6?. Broad 40inch chest (muscular, goes to gym)

Next L Tall - mostly a good fit, but limited range and T shirts not great quality
M&S L Tall - basic T-shirts - way too tight across shoulder
Fat Face L Tall - prob the best fit/ quality, but feels it's too much of a 'Dad brand'
2 tall - good, but sooooooo dull!
He's had a few bits & pieces from ASOS and River Island Tall ranges, but they always tend just to be in white/grey/black.

Anyone know of any good brands for tall young people??

My Ds is 6'5 and gets his shirts/tops from ASOS - filtering by tall fit, they have 376 shirts in every colour, 152 t shirts.
For basic t shirts dh (6'3) and ds like Lands End as they are such good quality

HappiDaze · 14/06/2023 12:28

True Religion is good for that size and I know they've been selling them in T K Maxx recently

Thanks, good to know about Lands End.

DS says when you drill down, most of the ASOS stuff in Large Tall is out of stock, but the algorithm doesn't exclude it!

Not sure if your budget but Spoke London do T-shirts in a combination of sizes so you can get a slim fit, long, medium. Or a regular, short, small etc. only downside is they're pricey.

underneaththeash · 14/06/2023 15:03

DS and DH are the same height and we get stuff from the same places as you - plus lands end.

Sorry there's not much choice!

Is the Lands End stuff quite roomy? Just looking at T shirts and not sure whether M or L would be best, as he's quite slim, but broad shoulders?

Cahartt fits my tall sons well.

almostoverthehill · 14/06/2023 15:20

BooHoo for men

Cahartt fits my tall sons well.

How tall are they?

My youngest son is 6ft 1in and most regular sizes fit him fine, but my eldest needs another 3-4inches in length really on his T shirts.
Even 'Tall' sizes are often just for 6ft 3!

6'2" DH wears medium shirts from Joe Browns if that's any help.

CMOTDibbler · 14/06/2023 15:35

Lands End is roomy.. Ds wears a small normally, and has a M LE t shirt as he wanted something looser and it really is large on him

Dinopawus · 14/06/2023 15:39

Fat Face and Gant (spendy) are good for DH but I get your Dad brand issue.

Think I may have got extra long polos from weirdfish in the past.

underneaththeash · 14/06/2023 16:00

Both DS and DH are 108kg and wear an XL

RunnyPaint · 14/06/2023 16:39

DH is 6'6" and has bought t-shirts from Jacamo (possibly the online element of what used to be High & Mighty).

DS, 6’5, muscular, gets his from Charles Tyrwhitt

Yes, DS has some CT shirts, they're OK, but the 'waist' indent tends to sit too high up. Lovely quality though and always look smart.

They don't do 'Tall' specifically though, do they?

Ah, well here's the problem - DS is only about 80kg, so tall and slimish.
He finds so many brands like Jacamo swamp him width-wise!

He doesn't really like polo shirts (think it's a hangover from primary school uniform days!) but he'd have more choice if he included them as there are often some options for longer length without extra width there.

NormaSnorks · 14/06/2023 16:55

https://www.2tall.com actually fit him well and are good quality, but OMG the website and the way the models display the clothes isn't good!! 😂

Espionage. Lovely quality. New ones on eBay start around £13/£14.

I think they go from 2xl - 8xl. But nice & long. Dh is 6ft 3in, very broad shoulders & they fit him really well.

CurlewKate · 14/06/2023 17:00

My ds and dh both get some good basics from Land's End- but you do have to sift through. Good for polos and T shirts.

Blossomandbee · 14/06/2023 17:02

He sounds like my DH. Jacamo shirts are good but I see you've tried those. I've bought him clothes from Burtons online which have a big and tall range, and Matalan online do a tall range too.

NormaSnorks · 14/06/2023 17:03

Some helpful suggestions, thank you, but it's just length he needs, not the width of XL or XXL.
Broadish shoulders (which make a size Medium too narrow) and a toned, muscular, but slim chest & abs and a very, very long back!

It seems he's an odd size which isn't really catered for.

OP posts:
Dinopawus · 14/06/2023 18:38

DH has the same issue! He is slim but has broad shoulders & narrow hips. The XL Tent look isn't great.

My DS is 6 4. Long legs and long body. Have had an absolute nightmare to get him shorts that are not too short for nighttime holiday shorts. Ordered so many pairs that had to go back.
Eventually we found Boohoo Man Tall range and he now has 4 pairs. He also got a couple of t-shirts that fit really well. He hates when he lifts his arms and the tops ride up. He buys M.
Maybe not the best best quality but not too bad and we were getting desperate!
