How long does your hair colour take - I’m fed up!

Please bear with me. I used to colour my hair blonde myself (I’m naturally a mousey light brown) then my hairdresser persuaded me it was really bad etc a few years ago so since then I’ve been getting it done at the hairdressers every 5 weeks.

I get the roots bleached, then a mix of ash blonde/beige toner on, every second time I’ll have a trim too. The thing is it seems to take ages over 3 hours, I always seem to be waiting about after my timers gone for them to finish up. In addition, my hair doesn’t look particularly healthy and looks patchy in places, I’m not that happy with it. I’m a total wuss though I’ve been going to the same hairdressers for years and years but I’m starting to think they are taking the p a bit?

Have you tried switching to highlights instead? They grow out a bit better so I only get mine done every 10 weeks. I used to have solid colour and it was every 6 weeks.

I get highlights done every few months and it also takes aaaaages (my arse usually falls asleep). But I thought that's because they're so fiddly with the million and one foils, and I have lots of hair.

Your shouldn't take that long surely, next time you could say to them you are in a bit of a hurry and only have 2 hours or something - just pretend you have another appointment so they hurry it along a bit.

I've coloured (and bleached) my own hair for years now. I got so sick of being in hairdressers for 3+hrs at a time. Now it takes me about the same time to do at home, or quicker. But I can do other stuff while it's curing. Cost is a lot less too, even though I use the same products hairdressers use.
