My hair was in need of a deep conditioning treatment after more highlights last week. It's now pretty blonde.

I grabbed the bottle of protein drops and added it to my conditioner, combed it through carefully and left it to soak in for 30 minutes as usual.

I've rinsed it out and styled and it's drying.

I've just tidied up and discovered I have deep conditioned my hair with my face tanning drops.....

It looks OK now but what the hell is it going to look like in a few hours?

I brushed my teeth with hair removal cream once 😂 the taste was an absolute shock!

I don't know but I can't wait to find out Grin

JMAngel1 · 13/06/2023 10:59

Ha ha. I think it will be fine? The DHA in the tan usually has to bond with melanin to create the tan - given that hair doesn’t have melanin, all should be well.

JMAngel1 · 13/06/2023 11:00

I think I would shampoo it agin now though to be on the safe side!

Just noticed I've misspelt disasters. That shows how rattled I am. I've been googling how to remove self tan from hair but I'm not sure that is going to work as the drops will have been sucked in with the conditioner.... It's had another wash just in case that will help

Can't tell if it's darkening yet as it's still too wet (takes an age to dry naturally)

@Humerushummus One way to get rid of the fuzzy feeling on teeth...

@JMAngel1 I hope you are right! I've been reading up on how self tanners work and I'm non the wiser. They do react with amino acids and hair is full of them.... Going to have to wait and see.

My sister covered herself in after sun not realising it was a actually one of those dove ones that give you a gradual tan. She looked a bit streaky the next day.

bibbityboppityboo · 13/06/2023 14:50

😂 oh lord! Hopefully it won't develop in your hair?!

I thought I was super slick using fake tan to contour my face one night, went to sleep and half rubbed off one side of my face onto my pillow - I woke up with one half of my face streaky orange and one side weirdly sculpted 😂 I looked so ill!

I also tried the henna freckles trend once, I wasn't delicate enough and ended up with 1p sized dots across my face, again I looked so ill - like I'd had some sort of lurgy rash!

Jifmicroliquid · 13/06/2023 14:55

Not quite a beauty disaster but I accidentally took a huge shot of mouth rinse once. I just went into auto pilot and swallowed it.

coxesorangepippin · 13/06/2023 15:05

😂 mouthwash shot

JaneJeffer · 13/06/2023 15:07

I once had a shot of Jäegermeister and thought I had accidentally swallowed mouth rinse!

listsandbudgets · 13/06/2023 15:09

I once put deep heat rub on my piles.. I dont want to talk about it 😢

WonderDays · 13/06/2023 15:10

deodorant in my hair and on a separate occasion hairspray in my armpits.

Anyonebut · 13/06/2023 15:18

There was once a thread by a poster who accidentally immac’d her baby (and maybe another by same poster who also managed to dye some of said baby’s skin blue, but I may have imagined that)

MissKittyFantastico84 · 13/06/2023 15:28

Not me but it was viral story once...

Some girl had bought a solid bath oil ball in Lush thinking it was a massage bar, rubbed it all in then realised she'd accidentally painted, and stained, herself bright pink.

I don't think they sell them anymore...

SocksAndTheCity · 13/06/2023 15:47

I dyed my face and fingers bright orangey-yellow with sea buckthorn oil, having bought it after skimming reviews but not spotting the recommendations to dilute it (because it's bright orange) before slapping it on. Thank God a good scrub with a muslin cloth got rid of it 😂

LadyPoison · 15/06/2023 19:10

Sorry - I promised an update and time ran away with me!

I actually seem to have got away with it. I'm still mostly blonde.... I don't recommend it though and that means I have to redo the protein treatment next wash. With my glasses on!

YES!! Was it honeydragon?! I fake tanned my baby once….. it was an accident. I had to tell his dad it was a birth mark 😳

GettingStuffed · 15/06/2023 19:16

I had reddish, blonde, brown hair. OK mouse but on the lighter side and I decided to henna my hair, I had brick red hair for months

jackstini · 15/06/2023 19:22

Didn't put my glasses on and hit the wrong pump - brushed my teeth with Jo Malone hand wash

Smelt delightful but f me it tasted disgusting!

Mygrandadwasmywingman · 15/06/2023 19:38

I was once given a sample bottle of self tanner
I chucked it on the side and forgot about it
About a week later dd found it,didn't read the label and thought it was moisturiser
She rubbed it into her brothers face as his skin was a bit dry
It refused to wash off and I had to explain to school why he looked like an oopma lumpa for what felt like weeks
