Pic attached - Dr Marten Clarissa - straps too tight! Will they give or shout I return?

I’m usually between a size 6 and 7, so ordered a 6 in these as I heard to size down.

Fit perfectly length wise but I have a high I step and the straps are so tight across my feet. Between the second and third strap ( closest to my ankle, not the strap over my toes? the skin is actually coming out in between the gap, there’s no way I could get socks on to break them in and stretch them out.

Do they give after they’ve been worn in, or should I return them?

They do give a bit but I wouldn’t say they would give that much

They look too a little too small to be honest, I think you’d do better in a larger size.

You have feet that look good in sandals, but I'd return those.

You could try shoe stretchers, @YoSof - worked for me when my docs were too tight (I have a high instep too!)

I have the same problem, it rules out a lott of shoes including sandals

I think they are, but I don’t want to size up if I’m going to have the same problem with the straps being so tight

I don’t think they’re the right shape for your feet, sorry. It looks like you need wider not a bigger size.

They just don't suit your foot shape. Life is too short for the misery of breaking shoes in!

I know people say how comfortable Doc Martens are but I’ve never tried a pair that was.

Length looks fine, width looks small.

Hi, I’ve had a similar issue as in between sizes. I dozed down but I have wide feet with a high arch and they were really tight. Thankfully, I also ordered the size up and they fit with room to spare under the straps. When I hold the shoes together there minimal difference in the length.

I haven’t decided which to keep yet but hope that helps

Just to add, if I keep the smaller ones I’ll use a shoe stretcher in them but I’m swaying in the side of keeping the bigger ones due to toe placement

M&S have a leather equivalent of it's just the style you like. They do them in wide fit too.

I have them in tan and they are really comfy

It’s definitely worth trying. I’m still unsure to be honest, I keep putting both pairs on for a moment and then putting them back in the box 🤣
