Wedding guest outfit for a hot day

I have a wedding this Saturday and all my appropriate outfits are polyester and a bit sweaty, and the forecast is 25 degrees. Can anyone recommend a dress? Looking for something colourful, ideally linen or cotton, midi length or maxi if it's not too bridesmaidy. Size 8/10, reasonable figure but I'm on an all-inclusive holiday right now so have gained about a stone in the past week. Budget less than £100 if possible. Thanks in advance!

I found some really pretty ones for you under £100 elsewhere, but no use as contained polyester/non-breathable synthetics, were way too revealing in the cleavage department (!), or had delivery times longer than 4 days.

This one is 100% cotton, but of a colour and print you may not be keen on?

Search Closet London for 'cotton dress'. There's several options for under £100. Sorry I can't do links.

During last years heatwave I wore a Seasalt dress and some fancy shoes / hair accessories. Easy to find something under £100.

(I’m a size 10/12 and I’m in my early thirties.)

Thought do lots of nice summery dresses in natural fabrics under £100.

The Lucy Lotus flower print is a small triumph. I could wear that several days of every week at an event or work. Thanks @MinnieMountain

Any particular colours that you prefer and style or floral/abstract, patterned/plain etc?

im in the same boat looking for a floral dress to a summer wedding next year!

How I miss cheesecloth! I have a dress I bought in India almost 30 years ago, it's wonderful for the garden in the heat, worn commando, sadly a bit tatty to wear anywhere else though.

IncenseAndPeppermint · 13/06/2023 17:47

@JudgeJ Yesterday's 'cheesecloth' is now called 'gauze' - and it's very in at the moment! Quite a few shops have gauze summer dresses. Totally agree that it's the best material ever for a hot day.

@Pigeon31
Ooh, I really like that. Even if the site bizarrely describes the pictured pink floral option as 'orange'!
Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, nothing is quite right but the Thought website has some lovely stuff. Style-wise I usually either go for plain or abstract pattern, not floral. I like slip dress styles but they're not forgiving so something with a waist is good. Something a bit more glam, which is hard to do in natural fibres. I've just remembered I have the Ghost Luna skirt so will try to find a breezy top to go with it
