Prefacing this by saying I am VERY pain sensitive.
will be getting a high day and holiday full wax this weekend and need recs for places that have good technique for a reduced pain experience (I know it’ll hurt but depending on technique, sometimes it hurts more than others). I used to use ministry of waxing even though they were a bit hit and miss.
please give me your recommendations 😀
(have NC for this, MN can verify have been here for penis beaker, naice ham etc)

Pure wax on Strand. Always with Fran. Got her details form an article I read years ago and have been going to her since. Waxing is never comfortable but she is quick and technique is good so it lasts.

Honestly, just get a Philips Lumea, pain free and a total game changer.

Aveda Covent Garden.

Strip - they have them all over like soho, angel etc. I've gone to them for years. Excellent service

Sorry to be graphic but do you do your lips and butt with that? I find that thought scary

BlameItOnTheGoose · 11/06/2023 19:02

I always went to Strip. Good result

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 11/06/2023 19:11

I also recommend Strip. I go to the one in Soho.

safetyzone · 11/06/2023 19:23

I used to go to Strip too but I don't like that the turnover of staff is high and once they were not very good honouring the discount I had for the treatment. Also expensive compared to Pure Wax.

Body Kalm in Bloomsbury, lovely Christina is very good, it's as pain free as it can be, and not very expensive.

Yup, I have a full Hollywood. It took a bit of commitment for the first few weeks/months but now I just give the area a quick zap on a Saturday morning and it remains perfectly smooth.

It’s just flashing a pulse of light at the said bits, it’s waaay less scary than the thought of a stranger pulling the hair out at the roots with wax!

The device’s attachments for the different body areas (the bit that actually comes into contact with the skin) is really easy to remove, I give it a good wash after each use so it’s perfectly hygienic.

Thanks all. Have a lumea but it’s not v good on more intimate areas due to pigment

i agree. Totally pain free and though it’s expensive it saves a fortune in the long run.

DrovemyChevvytothelevy · 12/06/2023 06:23

It doesn’t do darker pigmented areas though

Sorry what is a Lumea & how does it work?

I'm too shy too go to a beauty salon for waxing and have a low pain threshold plus shaving gives me a rash down there.

Doesn’t really work unless you’re pale skinned, dark haired.

Anyway, Mikki’s Wax Bar in Aldgate is brilliant. I followed her from Strip St Paul’s about five years ago.

DrovemyChevvytothelevy · 12/06/2023 18:23

It’s a light pulse thing. About £500. You go over the area once every couple of weeks and it weakens the hair growth. Doesn’t stop it for ever but is good - only if you’re fair with dark hair and no good on darker pigments

Arezoo in Knightsbridge- easily found online- fantastic and as relaxing as waxing can be

Lookingoutside · 13/06/2023 00:20

Otylia Roberts behind Selfridges, if she’s still there.

Lookingoutside · 13/06/2023 00:22

Also you’ll have to pick somewhere quickly if you want an appointment this weekend.
