What do you use it for?

Merrymagpies · 11/06/2023 08:27

Dry skin, Chapping, sunburn, lips, bites. My daughter with amazing skin uses it as a moisturiser. It’s brilliant.

Hillbilly · 11/06/2023 08:29

@Merrymagpies thanks. I'm currently using it sparingly as a night cream

A very tiny bit on my hair when I get static flyaway bits that won't stay down. And dry heels.

Hillbilly · 11/06/2023 09:09

@evilharpy ooh heels, good idea!

Gosh for so many things.

But it is amazing for using in scars.

I got this when I bought the last time.

That one was a bit blurry. Here it is again.

All of the above plus cuticles.

Crikeyalmightey · 11/06/2023 09:25

I'd use it, but don't like that waxy smell. Neals yard do a pot of similar which actually smells nice, much better.

PaperBlinds · 11/06/2023 09:28

Everything! Atm its v useful for protecting eyes and nostrils from pollen. healing, protecting, soothing - it's magic stuff and lasts for eons.

Not sure i would waste it on heels though.

Keitharingsbitch · 11/06/2023 09:31

Lip balm, night cream, onsire bits like bites and burns. I absolutely love it.

isthismylifenow · 11/06/2023 09:31

Let's not forget it can be also used for frostbitten penis.

dudsville · 11/06/2023 09:33

I buy the nighttime miracle moisturiser version and so much prefer it to the traditional tube. I do use it on my face, both day and night, but i also use it on top of a thick layer of nivea blue tub on my hands and feet at night before bed with cotton sock and gloves.

PaperBlinds · 11/06/2023 10:01

There is an unfragranced one, but somehow it didn't work as effectively - it may be the smell that convinces me it's working!

Roundaboot · 11/06/2023 10:07

Cuticles, lips and excema mostly. I get an annoying patch of excema on my eyelid and this is a about the only thing that sorts it out. It's brilliant on any kind of sore skin - always feels very healing.

Roundaboot · 11/06/2023 10:09

*eczema ffs! 😳

I didn't even know there was an unfragranced version.

I think I would feel the same. The distinctive smell makes you just know it's working and doing what it needs to.

Is the unfragranced one the same colour ?

traintraveller · 11/06/2023 10:20

I bought it when I tripped and landed on my face and it was fab. Now I really just use it as a lip balm.

PaperBlinds · 11/06/2023 10:21

@isthismylifenow yes same colour and texture, but no smell. I don't know why but I felt it wasn't as clean/medical/effective - thats probably me being entirely suggestible. OTH I am quite sensitive to changes in formula in other products (and I do wish companies wouldn't do it).

Unfortunately I'm not sure I can forget.

I'm not a fan of 8 hour cream, the last tube I had (a gift) I used up by slathering it all over my feet at night. I don't get the hype - to me it just smells a bit iffy and is essentially a tube of vaseline (more than 50% petroleum jelly) and lanolin with some added oils and colouring, and not overly fancy ones at that. I remember being surprised it contains salicyclic acid as I generally associate that with anti blemish products. Obviously it's an excellent occlusive and will certainly do the job for holding in moisture or promoting healing, but quite expensive really, for what it is.

PaperBlinds · 11/06/2023 10:29

It definitely works better than vaseline for me - and argh to using it up on feet - please send to me if this happens again! The only other cream that I find as soothing (totally different type of product but effective in a similar way) is the Weleda Skin Food - really rich and helps heal, and significantly cheaper
.

Hillbilly · 11/06/2023 10:32

@Crikeyalmightey I also have the Neals Yard Rose balm which seems to be similar but more greasy

OP posts:
Hillbilly · 11/06/2023 10:32

@isthismylifenow yes I used it on a burn recently and it seemed to do well.

OP posts:
Ratonastick · 11/06/2023 10:36

Sunburn. I am vanishingly pale so occasionally get caught out. 8 hour cream fixes it overnight. Other than that it deals with spots, bites, dry skin. Basically a universal ointment for little niggles.

Piemam · 11/06/2023 14:28

Like @dudsville, the nighttime miracle moisturiser is great for those that find the 8 hr stuff too heavy for face. Have used on eczema too, as the daytime version didn't seem like enough. Very expensive but good product. The 8 hr cream is great for lip treatment and smoothing over sores etc.

HMMOG · 11/06/2023 18:43

Also healed my angular cheilitis when nothing else would.
