Is duty-free shopping still worth it?

I am flying transatlantic tomorrow, from Heathrow T5. I have hardly flown since before Covid and am excited about the duty free make-up, perfume, etc. I have also been saving for a new bag and am considering investing in a label like Louis Vuitton (I like the Neverfull). Is duty free still worth it for this kind of thing? I get confused by all the tax rules and am not sure whether you actually save much money anymore.

In my experience, no. I bought Timberland boot on a work trip to Edinburgh several years ago then flew through Heathrow a few days later. The boots were cheaper on the high street than in duty free.

This was pre Brexit though, so may have changed.

There were some good deals when I was there last week. It has got better since Brexit. I think you can look at prices online and pre order for pick up when you get there. I picked up some perfume for £20 which is usually £50. Gin was very cheap too!

I fly frequently and tbh the makeup isn't a bargain, you can get some decent perfume offers and spirits, have a look on the website before you go, pre order to save time.
