Thoughts on this dress for summer wedding

Thoughts on this dress for a summer wedding? Sister of the groom, in my 40's. Prepared to be told it's too short! My mum has diplomatically said she likes the colour but might be too warm, that may be her way of saying it's too short or some other reason she doesn't like it lol.

You have an absolutely fantastic figure and I would kill for your legs but the dress is a bit going to a club in winter rather than for a wedding.

Overthebow · 03/06/2023 08:24

The dress looks more like evening wear than summer wedding. It is a little short depending on where the wedding is being held.

Peonyfun · 03/06/2023 08:24

Lol. I’m not sure you’re serious?

it’s great for a night out on the pull but for a wedding keep it classy 😂

wwwedding · 03/06/2023 08:24

It’s a nice dress and suits your figure (gorgeous legs!) but perhaps has more of a winter cocktail party vibe- the dark colour plus long sleeves. And the fabric looks almost like a knit? Hard to tell. Might work with some wedding-y accessories (bright blazer etc)

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/06/2023 08:26

It looks like something to wear in winter because of the long sleeves.

D20 · 03/06/2023 08:26

I like it. I wish I had your legs. I’ve got a summer wedding coming up and wondering whether longs sleeves will be too hot though?

UnaVaca · 03/06/2023 08:26

It’s not very summery

Sparkletastic · 03/06/2023 08:28

No not right for a summer wedding. Any other options?

Girlintheframe · 03/06/2023 08:32

Nice dress but don't think it would work for a summer wedding

Slobberchops1 · 03/06/2023 08:35

Not for a wedding - that’s evening wear

WhereLightGoes · 03/06/2023 08:35

You look lovely but it’s more nightclub than summer wedding.

Unbridezilla · 03/06/2023 08:37

I slso think it looks like a night out in winter dress: sleeves loom to heavy for summer and it is short for a wedding. You'll spend lots of time sitting and the dress will ride up even more then

Crazykefir · 03/06/2023 08:39

Looks nice. but short for church. Ok for registry office.

Haha yes I am serious. My day to day wear is jeans and T shirt so I literally never dress like this! Glad I posted here as have been told, back to the drawing board!

It is too short - sorry! (Both for a wedding and for the style of the dress, I think.) And I agree with your mum that it might be a bit warm for the summer with the long sleeves; great for a Christmas party, though!

NatashaDancing · 03/06/2023 08:40

No, it's not "weddingy" although I can't decide if that's because it genuinely isn't, or if I'm biased because I really, really don't like the dress.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/06/2023 08:43

A definite no from me.

Ozmumofboys3 · 03/06/2023 08:44

Thanks all!

I literally never really get dressed up so when a friend suggested I tried it when we were shopping and said how lovely it looked I went with it. Obviously I was unsure hence asking for advice!
The wedding isn't in a church, it's at a farm lol!

I'm usually a jeans and T shirt type girl, definitely don't want to look like out on the pull!

I've got another dress in the wardrobe I think will be suitable so will either go with that or shop for something else.

Too short for a wedding

Etoile41 · 03/06/2023 08:49

Nice dress and looks good but definitely not for a summer wedding. Looks wintery and more going out type dress

Pteryl · 03/06/2023 08:54

I think it looks lovely and definitely not too short. Not sure where all these people are going clubbing, but I’ve never seen an outfit like this in a club!!

SallyWD · 03/06/2023 08:59

I don't think it's suitable for a summer wedding. A night out, yes.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/06/2023 09:04

It's not that it's too short, but with the long sleeves it's weirdly out of proportion. Killer legs OP btw!!

Ozmumofboys3 · 03/06/2023 10:31

How about these?
