Will I ever be reunited with my beloved cardigan

Out on holiday today near UK beach and my partner was carrying my cardigan for me. It never made it home with us :(

I am trying to hide it for their sake a bit but I’m absolutely devastated. It was a comfort blanket for me, worn nearly every day. Without it I don’t know what to wear!

It was a chunky black cardigan and VERY soft - almost a velvety type of wool? I’m not sure what it’s called, maybe chenille? It would help if anyone knows. Very thick and heavy so I felt comforted whenever it was on.

I am pretty sure it was from Peacocks, though at a push could have been H&M/new look. I’m pretty sure it was Peacocks though. Bought it in 2018/19.

Does ANYONE know of anything similar I could buy as a replacement?

I know this might sound silly to some, but I was just so attached to it.

Honestly you'll have more luck if you say which beach

Maybe someone has it??

mogtheexcellent · 03/06/2023 01:51

I felt the same about some linen cropped trousers i got from sainsburys. DH got bleach on them. Found a pair on vinted after a couple of months searching so worth a try?

Walking back from North Landing beach in Flamborough. But it wasn’t left on the beach, I had it on the way back 🙁 heading towards Flamborough village

Ooh I feel your pain op. I lost my cardigan on holiday about five years ago and I still miss it.
Yours sounds perfect, I hope a style watcher can find a replacement for us both.

wowie69 · 03/06/2023 08:25

I'd look for a flamborough Facebook page and ask if anyone picked it up.

User19844666884 · 03/06/2023 08:28

Could you post a picture of you of it (can blur out your face and/or crop the photo) along with your size and we could help you find a replacement?

I still miss a skirt that my lovely mum accidentally shrank when I was 16 - I am now 50 😅

MrsLiam · 03/06/2023 08:32

I managed to find a replacement dress, identical to one I wore so much I wore it out, on eBay probably 5 years after I bought the first one.
But I knew the make and it was a distinctive colour and print. "Black cardigan" is not so descriptive.

KnickerlessParsons · 03/06/2023 08:50

Have a look at some knitting patterns. I think the wool it's made of might be chenille. If you can't knit you could probably find someone to knit it for you.
Clever knitters might be able to knit it from a photo.

Was the style roughly like this OP (this is a Roman chenille Cardigan, on eBay) ?

Same. Lost a navy long cardigan that was only Primark but was so handy. It slid off my case while waiting for airport shuttle bus.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 03/06/2023 08:58

Good luck with finding it - re walk the route a few times, ask in any local shops/businesses. Check for it hanging on a local hedge etc.

id try eBay if it doesn’t turn up.
I have duplicates now of several clothing items.
I am very boring but once I find something that I love and fits perfectly I sometimes get another one!

viques · 03/06/2023 09:49

I feel your pain. I left a favourite dressing gown in a hotel in Brighton, soft , a lovely sage green, so cosy. I rang them the minute I realised to arrange and pay for it to be returned and they denied all knowledge of it! Evil thieving bastards.

Not all hotels though, a very up market B and B in Lavenham found my misplaced cardigan and rushed it back to me. I now check every nook and cranny if I stay anywhere.

This.
A black cardi would be easy to spot, hopefully someone who lives there has seen it.
I'm feeling your pain, I had a unique black faux leather jacket, short sleeved, kinda frilly on the arms and neckline and DP was carrying it whilst waiting for the airport transfer in Greece, he left it on the back of a chair.
I still haven't forgiven him.
Fate stepped in as a couple of years later he left his £600+ jkt in an airport.
Hope you find it

Isthatascratchonmygrandmother · 03/06/2023 10:04

I'm from Brid. I'll check the local pages OP.

VDisappointing · 03/06/2023 10:10

If you wore it alot maybe you have a photo if you in it?
Worth trying vinted where people sell second hand clothes.

SockGoddess · 03/06/2023 11:43

Definitely not somewhere in the car, or could have been left on public transport? I’d also try Twitter if possible, people often get things back by tweeting a pic.

otherwise, definitely look on eBay and vented. 2018/19 is good timing, things are often ebayed a few years after they were in the shops, when people have a clear out.

SockGoddess · 03/06/2023 11:43

Sorry Vinted not vented!

SockGoddess · 03/06/2023 11:45

I still miss a H&M grey woolly jumper that I lost in 1997!

Al991 · 03/06/2023 19:36

Hi all, sorry been busy all day but just wanted to update - thanks to some searching and the kind people on Facebook I’ve found the cardigan!!! I’m so pleased. But now feel like I might try hunting for a second one on vinted or eBay… I will post a pic when I’m home in case anyone’s seen one about or can suggest search terms

Brilliant. Now if anyone has seen my dressing gown……

SockGoddess · 03/06/2023 20:40

Fab op! Thanks for updating.
