14-16, 5ft7, big bust, big tummy - recommend me a jumpsuit?

Really want to wear a jumpsuit for an upcoming daytime casual event - not looking for an evening wear type jumpsuit and would like to wear white trainers with it. Any ideas for something that will suit my size and shape gratefully received.

I find jumpsuits are really trial and error - I'm a similar shape to you OP - I haven't bought one recently, but last time I did I ordered every black jumpsuit John Lewis had in stock and tried them all on - some looked awful and some looked ok but the winner ended up being one from their Weekend collection and I sent the rest back.

These are lovely but I tend to avoid buttons over the bust as they always gape and look awful ...

I have similar to this and am bustier than the photo. I have sewn a clear plastic snap fastener half way between the 2 'bust widest point ' buttons, and it just holds it together there, what ever activities I'm doing eg bouncy castle)

I agree with @Softoprider from the point of view that I'm the same size and an hourglasss and have never found a jumpsuit that looks good on me.

But I don't think that means your options are elasticated trousers or nothing. I wear a lot of fit and flare dresses culottes, knee length skirts with tops that skin my waist. Still looking for the goldilocks of jumpsuits!

I've just got this in the black and it's really lovely...

@Nofixedabodewell
I'll have a quick look- found in store, will see if I can see online.

I'm 5.10" too. So if I manage to find it, bear that in mind. Can't see it being much good for anyone less than 5.6"...

Maybe its just me being silly but I can't think of anything worse for a woman with a fuller figure to wear than a jumpsuit. So many lovely trousers in the shops with elasticated waists for tummies and gorgeous tops that are very forgiving on the huge bust. Plus you don't almost pee yourself getting them off and you can mix and match whereas with a jumpsuit you are limited - totally limited.

I'm glad it's not just me. I agree with you @Softoprider and @Nofixedabodewell - I don't think jumpsuits look flattering if you have a big belly.

I'm a similar shape - big boobs and I carry my weight on my tummy. I'm quite tall with long legs so in theory a jumpsuit should be flattering on me. Without exception, I look like a sack of wriggling pigs.

If you're curvy, jumpsuits can look amazing and I agree with the right cut, a jumpsuit can be stunning on a bigger figure. But curvy isn't the same as big tummy - that's a very specific area that I've never seen look good in a jumpsuit.

Some don't look terrible when you're standing up - but as soon as you sit down, the tummy area with all its pudginess is accentuated. It's not flattering whatsoever - and there's no cut that's going to save that.

But just to be clear, I'm not saying if you have a big tummy you shouldn't wear a jumpsuit. If you feel comfortable and confident, then all power to you. Wonderful.

I'm not especially body conscious but the OP asks for a jumpsuit that "suits" big boobs and a tummy, and I'm just saying that I don't think there are any that do. Lots of lovely jumpsuits posted here - not a single one so far that would be flattering to a bigger tummy. I looked at them all excitedly hoping to find a magic jumpsuit that I could wear - but there's nothing. If you're the slightest bit self-conscious about that tummy bulge (which we all know is worse when sat down) - then I would say a dress or trousers and top would be far more "suitable".

Totally agree with @Softoprider. I also have big boobs and big tummy, and although a couple of suggestions on here might work (patterned ones or ones with a wrap style top), the dungaree style ones are an absolute no!

@Kfjsjdbd i like that would a big bust get away with it?

i am 5’6, 14-16 and a big bust and tummy :)

I just got some clothes from Joe Browns and tried them on 10 minutes ago, two looked really nice - the first isn’t a jumpsuit but flattering and v comfy (with pockets!) so I’ll throw on

the second one is a jump suit and that also looked nice :) and also had pockets!

Hi @gggrrrargh , just wondering did you size up or down for the dress? I really like it!

I agree! 5‘8, size 14-16, but carry most weight on my tummy. Even at a size 12 I’ve never found a jumpsuit that looks okay especially not anything with elastic or ties around the middle because I have a short torso and they are never long enough so look even worse.

A lot of women look amazing in jumpsuits, I’m just not one of them.

MynameisJune · 04/06/2023 17:04

Oh and I opened this thread all excited to find something that might fit the bill but I’ve tried most of these styles on over the years.

Newoldme23 · 04/06/2023 19:42

A more formal recommendation but the Chloe jumpsuit from SilkFred is my new favourite outfit ( size 18 /‘38DD)

i usually look like a tellytubby in a jumpsuit but the wrap top, short sleeves and tie waist all help to balance me out. Have had lots of compliments wearing it

Clickcamera · 04/06/2023 19:45

I do not know what your style is but Run and Fly has some nice and different jumpsuits. They do have buttons mostly BUT they are made for fully figures and their sizing is usually good!

Vitriolinsanity · 04/06/2023 19:51

Hush. I have the jersey one in black and just sling a jacket/kimono over it to style it up.

GingerCoi · 04/06/2023 20:02

Thanks so much all for the ideas!! Looking at them all now ...
@Softoprider thanks for your input, too - any links to good trousers and tops gratefully received as I am clothes-clueless...

Is this reputable? I love the black one. They're all bloody culottes or cut intentionally short and it drives me insane (and makes me feel like a clown) . Saying that the inner leg is 30.5inches so I'd have to check what mine is 🤔
