Long shorts for girls (11)

DD put on some shorts this morning which she wore last year. They fit her correctly now but she's horrified that if she moves or sits on the floor her backside will be on display! She would like some long shorts designed for girls. Not boy's shorts (she has a couple of DS's hand me downs). So far I've only found unisex shorts a.k.a. boys shorts being marketed as unisex and all the girls' shorts are the very typical pant skimming type. She's not usually bothered by clothes, so I'd like to find her something she'd like. She doesn't want to look like she's wearing DS's old stuff.

My daughter (almost 11) hates that female shorts apparently mean only just covering your bum. She's resigned herself to wearing shorts that are boys/unisex.

Mountain warehouse have a decent selection of colours that aren't typically masculine looking so that might work for your daughter. Otherwise I haven't found shorts that aren't eye watering in cost that also come close to the knee. Best of luck!

I got some knee length denim shorts for my DD in Sainsbury. Ladies section rather than children's though.
Lands End (catalogue) might be worth a look?

H&M have loads that are longer than butt cheek in the kids/teen range

Boden do some lovely shorts in a longer style.

They also sell Baggie shorts which we have in green and pink and pink/white stripe. They are generally around knee length.

I have a 12 year old DD so can empathise - we have ordered a pair of these to try -

Not arrived yet but DD was very happy with the style - especially the phone pocket !

What about buying trousers/jeans that fit and meet the brief, and turning them into shorts? Can make them any length she likes then! If she doesn't like a raw hem, you could fold up a couple of turns and put in a few stitches to keep in place, no major sewing skills required.

Have to confess I only thought of this when I was looking for denim shorts myself and getting annoyed that they were all extremely short AND more expensive than a pair of full-length jeans (on sale) that I was carrying around to buy - when it clicked I went and grabbed a second pair!
