Rub them all over with fairy washing up liquid then soak in water for a few hours.
Stick in washing machine with towels on a gentle quick wash and dry them in direct sunlight.
I do all my white pumps like this every summer

Thanks a million. I'll
Try that today as weather is fantastic too

I just sling them in the washer.

You can get trainer whitener, if all else fails (like a white shoe polish, my mum used to clean all of ours using it).

PeopleAreShit · 30/05/2023 13:15

Thanks for asking as I want to know this too! Didn’t think about the washing machine for them. Any particular cycle? Gentle wool etc?

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 30/05/2023 13:18

I chuck mine in a standard quick wash.
I got red wine out of mine this way!

craic74 · 30/05/2023 13:47

I've tried that but it really didn't work . I might try a whitener sachet you can throw into the washing machine next time or vanish?
Def going to try fairy today.
I clean my eternity ring with it and it comes up brand new every single time
. Powerful stuff!

Apparently whitening toothpaste, brushed onto the soles with an old toothbrush and left for a while before wiping off, is really effective. But if they are canvas, I also put them in the washing machine, with an old white towel, and use bio washing liquid.

Vitriolinsanity · 30/05/2023 19:17

Bung them in the wash with bedding to pad out the load and protect the drum.

Hang them on the line et voila!

SideProfile · 30/05/2023 19:19

Funnily enough I’m about to soak mine in some oxyaction whitening stain remover overnight because the washing machine isn’t cutting it.
Nervous about ruining them but they’re so grubby I’m not wearing them anyway!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/05/2023 19:22

Put them in a pillowcase and tie it up before you put them in the washing machine.

anon1968 · 04/06/2023 18:23

Spray with vanish, scrub them and then spray again before washing in the machine with towels. Mine came out like new.

Throughabushbackwards · 04/06/2023 19:12

The Pink Stuff laundry stain remover spray is great for white trainers.

YouTuber Emma Hill has recently done something recently on keeping trainers clean. Check out her channel. I think she’s also done one on Instagram specifically for white trainers/plimsolls.
