Has anyone down this you take in 5 empties and get £5 off a beauty purchase...what counts as empties do shower gels count? Are they fussy what you take in? Thanks x

Yes I have done it many times and save them to get money off perfume. They also let you use the offer in conjunction with other offers they run like 15 percent off. Be aware there is now a minimum spend. I have taken tooth paste tubes, face wash containers, shampoo and conditioner bottles in. As long as they are full size and not glass then it’s ok. There is a list on their website I think of what they accept.

great thanks for the information, yes its is £20 minimum spend now....i just wasn't sure what you could take in if shower gel, shampoo empties
etc would count.

I really wish they would let you accrue a voucher that you could use in store or online as it just leads to building up a stack of empties until you are ready to buy something.

LadyLapsang · 30/05/2023 12:37

I wish they would work in conjunction with Waitrose, so you could take the empties into Waitrose and collect a voucher to use later. Not so bad if you drive to the store but if you use public transport for a shopping trip it’s a pain to carry a bag of empties with you.

I've used it several times but...sometimes I will go with an idea of repurchasing a product I already have - just to find it out of stock in store (but they will advise it is available online....). I find that they often run out of stock so do not get your hopes too high.
Also, you need to have a myJL membership card to use it.

lindyloo57 · 30/05/2023 16:09

They used to let you order online, then refund the item and re buy it to use the voucher as the can't be used on line, I don't think they do that anymore, when I last did it, I got a snotty assistant who ask have I washed all the containers out, I said how do I wash the mascara tubes out, yes I had 5 empty tubes.

faustina · 30/05/2023 16:27

I've done it a few times too - it's a good idea. They changed the rules recently (which caught me out once) and now won't take any glass bottles

SlayB · 30/05/2023 16:29

Can you not take travel
minis can you link to the rules ?

I bought something yesterday but didn't have my empties with me, I totally forgot about the offer as not done it before. Went back in today with item and my receipt as it was only yesterday and asked to use the offer, I got a mouthful and a very unhelpful nasty response. I said yes I bought the item yesterday but the offer on empties is still on....she then said ok but had already given me a mouthful. I said I will just refund the item then and buy it again, I wish i hadn't asked she was most unhelpful and did it under duress won't be returning after today's experience.

This lists what's accepted, it does also say that recycling/purchase needs to be on the same day so I'm not surprised they'd get snotty with you trying to bend this rule.

We can accept the following items: all beauty jars, tubes and caps (excluding glass), shampoo/conditioner bottles and caps, non-pressurised hairspray bottles, lip beauty products (tubes, lipstick, lip balm), mascara tubes, eye liner pencils and cases, eyeshadow tubes and palettes, concealer and foundation tubes and sticks - including testers. We can not accept aerosol cans, glass containers, perfume bottles, nail polish bottles, hairbrushes, toothbrushes and any electronic items such as blow dryers and straighteners.

ilovebrie8 · 30/05/2023 18:22

I could have simply refunded the item I bought yesterday and then bought it again today as it was refundable so I didn’t really bend the rules…the saw the receipt it wasn’t exactly weeks later !!

she then said oh yeah and processed it …I could understand them getting ratty if it was weeks later but it was less than 24 hours and I could have just got a refund today and bought it again with my empties with me. Didn’t even look at my empties and what they were I had them in a bag she just took them and put them in a bin didn’t even look what was in there🙄after me wondering what would be accepted !
