Hi!

I'm early 30's and looking for casual wear maxi or midi dresses with full length sleeves. Bonus if the neckline is not too big!

This board is brilliant so hope I can get some suggestions.

I bought four lightweight king-sleeved dresses from Fatface recently. All tiered/waist-tie styles that would work with boots or sandals. I think two were cotton and two viscose (my absolute preference is cotton with long sleeves and pockets but it's slim pickings isn't it?)

That's more than I can usually find in one shop, so I grabbed them all. Haven't tried them all on yet, though.

I remember one style was called Joyce because that made me smile. I'm ten years older than you but maybe something there would suit you.

I'd also give Vinted (Brand New With Tags) a search. Some good bargains to be had.

I've just got two lovely ones (same style - different patterns) from Blue Vanilla. They're polyester and elastane, which works for me because viscose gives me the rage, they've got long, quite full sleeves, and they're nearly maxi length on me at 5'7.

I've got it in green animal and black dots. I like the blue ones, but I already have a lot of blue dresses (I can think of at least two blue maxis in my wardrobe right now) so I'm trying not to order more!

@MagicClawHasNoChildren
Why does viscose give you the rage?!

MagicClawHasNoChildren · 30/05/2023 13:40

@FairGoMatron Because the nicer and floatier and more flowy it is, the more likely it is to shrink in the wash, and apparently, it's only possible to unshrink it by ironing. And I fucking HATE ironing. AND it doesn't always work.

It's such an inconsistent fabric. I have a viscose jersey dress that behaves impeccably (although it was second hand, so I think it might have been pre-shrunk by some other unsuspecting buyer). I've also had at least three other viscose dresses that will never fit me properly again.

GRRRRRR.

I’d give New Look a browse.

@MagicClawHasNoChildren
Ah! Definitely with you re hating ironing!
