Seeking the perfect sun dress. Does it exist?

I’ve just bought this Next sun dress thinking it would be perfect, but the belt thing with the striped middle section just draws attention to the fact that I have no waist. Has anyone seen anything similar?

I’m 50, tall and a size 14-16 (16 on the top half). I carry weight around my middle, so waisted dresses do nothing for me. I’d like something midi or long and sleeveless (but not spaghetti straps). I’m not usually very brave with colour or pattern but open to trying something new. I don’t suit black/brown/rust/orange (I’m more of a ‘spring’ for colours). Not overly keen on the tiered shape, as because of my height and size I think it would resemble a small marquee. I think a column style might be better.

Any ideas, or am I looking for the impossible??

I’ve tried this one from Fat Face, which fits pretty well and is lovely soft fabric. I prefer it on me with the v at the front rather than the back, but it seems to be reversible. I think it will be nice and cool due to the light fabric. Just perhaps a touch too short on me.
I’ve also bought this one from Mint Velvet, which was a bit more than I wanted to spend. It’s a lovely dress and a flattering shape on me, good length too. Quite a heavy weight jersey though so probably not as cool as the Fat Face one, and also maybe more suited to an event. It feels more dressy, and I don’t know how much I’d realistically wear it.
So both nice (and I might keep one of them) but still on the quest for perfection!

I know you said sleeveless- and I’m the same with summer dresses, I usually feel sleeves are a bit hot/restrictive- but this dress from Seasalt is the most comfortable dress I’ve ever owned- it’s so light, floaty but still with some shape, and looks lovely.

I've ordered this from Abercrombie & Fitch, it comes in tall. I'm hoping I can wear a normal bra with it and the body is longer, not just the skirt!
