I m going on a date (!), what the F will I wear?

What do people wear these days 😆😆😆🙂. I haven't a clue, work from home, live in leggings.

Meeting at a hotel, that has a nice pub and I m hoping some music. So casual.

I m 5 ft 7, size 12 - 14, athletic(ish) body shape.

Is this someone you already know - so a proper date, or just the first meeting from OLD? Received MN wisdom is that you should never invest much in the latter - it might be 15 minutes of awkwardness at a bar, or they might not turn up, or …

If it’s a proper date, then I guess a heightened version of what you feel you look best in?

Are you keen to buy something new (budget?) or are you pondering your own wardrobe?

I might buy myself something new, all my clothes are worn to bits ormumsy. Maybe I ll get a new top. Say 100 eurobudget. It's warm, so a summer top, I guess. Maybe I ll head to zara after work.

What odd advice! Nearly all my friends have met their partners/husbands OLD (myself included!) Wear whatever you feel best in either way, even if it is fifteen minutes of being awkward!

The only thing I think sometimes about dresses is in theory they can only be worn a few times.

It is, @GonnaGetGoingReturns - Limited Edition. I dunno - my first thought was that it’s silk, so should be lovely to wear. My second thought was that it would be great in early Autumn with a tweed jacket and some big stompy boots. Versatility certainly is a virtue, it’s just a matter of picking the right dress.

(But the point was that the OP should buy something because she wants to, without any expectation that it might presage a grand romance.)

@Edmontine , agreed with you re OP should feel able to wear what she wants and no romance expectations.

They’ve got some nice bits in their limited edition range including some ankle boots but for £179 I’m waiting for the sale unless I fall in love with them.

Update :

We spoke before the date and he said he was coming from work so would be dressed casually and suggested that I should feel free to dress as casually as I wanted, we could go on a bigger night out next time, so I just wore black leggings with a sleeveless summer top and sandles with heels.

We had a nice time, no kissing, but I think we ll meet again. He could be a contender for a summer romance. ☀️🙂. Thank you for the replies!
