NYC wedding - what does a 5'3 apple shape wear in the Big Apple?

Nautical themed 5pm wedding on the Long Island coast.
I have no idea what to wear, but I know it needs to be "dressy" and shouldn't be navy.
I'm short and have massive boobs and an apple tummy. No arse, but a cracking set of ankles. Dodgy toe joints mean I can only wear wedges or 2-3in heels.

I remember seeing some lovely dresses by a UK company, 50s-ish styling and great fabrics, but can't remember what they are called. Like Lady V or Vivienne of Holloway, but fancier. Can anyone help?

No navy? Odd request from them but alright. What is your budget? Do you have time to get something there? Are you looking for something both dressy and coastal/nautical or just a standard formal-ish wedding guest dress?

Was it Nancy Mac?

Long Island coast is very different from NYC - do you know how far out on the island it is? Closer in to the city very different from out east (Hamptons), and do you know if it's north shore or south shore (also quite different)?

What type of venue? Hotel ballroom is going to be different than a restaurant patio overlooking the water.

Budget is £200 max, and ideally something I can wear to future formal dinner dances.
I wore my trusty LBD to my last US wedding, but noticed I was a little underdressed compared to the full length dresses in brighter colours and more luxe fabrics.
I'm 43, but often told I could be 10 years younger and, despite the matronly bosom, have a younger/quirky vibe. And I bloody love a sequin!

What size are you and what time of day is the wedding? Do you want mini, midi or maxi? Sleeves or no sleeves?

For sort of 50s style dresses have a look online at pretty kitty or Elsie's attic

I wouldn't wear anything floral or a multicolored pastel dress to an evening wedding anywhere in NY.

Pastels would work only if blinged up.

We were at an evening wedding in Tribeca recently and I was surprised by the number of people in floaty florals. It was during a weird little heat wave, though, so it might have been partly that. Also, the north shore of Long Island is very much not NYC - my husband grew up like a town over from here, so I know the area well.

OP, are the guests meant to be nautically themed?

I love that dress.

I think if you like it and it fits, it will absolutely be appropriate. What shoes are you thinking?
