At home hair colour

I can't afford to get my hair done at the salon anymore, sad times. But those of you who do colour your hair at home, what brand do you recommend?

I have a few greys sprouting now so it definitely needs to have good coverage. I'm looking for a chocolate brown without a red base.

Thanks !

I can tell you which to avoid (cries)

  • Clairol Natural Instincts - came out jet black and completely ruined my hair

6 months later I tried

  • Loreal Excellence Cool Creme - light brown and it came out jet black

I still haven't found the perfect hair dye (I'm aiming for a cool toned chocolate colour)

If you use any warm colours they fade to reddish tones. Anything without them goes too dark!

I use olia because it's the best for my scalp.

I once used Urban Brown and it was gorgeous especially used with blue shampoo. I might do this again
