Ankle grazer trousers that flatter tummy?

Justkoko · 24/05/2023 07:33

Looking for some suitable for work. I live in 'firm' jeans which help the roundness of my stomach but would like lightweight cotton type chino trousers for work but expect that the fabric will just give and they'll end up looking sloppy.
Is there such a thing as contouring ankle grazer trousers which are firm in the stomach but smarter looking?

I find side zip helps, less loose fabric around tummy.

I’ve got a pair from M&S and I find them quite flattering.

Reiss do Joanne trousers which help my stomach. I wear them a lot!

I wear magic trousers in a stone colour, they're so much more flattering than normal chinos and if you buy the ones which contain spandex, they really hold their shape.

What are magic trousers? A good search is throwing up a lot of things!

I buy these ones because I like the yoke on the back, it gives a good shape. The white are also great, so much more flattering than white jeans. I wear the black and navy all through the winter.

I can't tell with these magic trousers, are they smart enough for work? Do they stretch out and look baggy or do they hold their own? Are they like cotton chino fabric or more jersey?

@Justkoko I don't think they look smart enough for work. (For me) I also worry they would come up to my belly button pushing out my mum tum (aka shelf/ blob what ever you want to call her after CS)

They are really stretchy they have them in my local boutique so do not know if they are the same fabric but they do look good I have uniform for work so not expert on work wear

Yep, this is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I wear skinny jeans usually but want domething smarter and cooler for summer.

Watching with interest as I have horrible tummy shelf from my second c section, not helped by middle aged spread !

Justkoko · 24/05/2023 13:04

I'm not 100% these magic trousers eill make me look any better. I can't help but think I need to stick with my high waist jeans snd try snd find some in solid colours like navy or charcoal.

The magics trousers are like a cotton drill style fabric but with great stretch (spandex) so they don't bag anywhere. They don't give you a muffin top as they're so stretchy and mine come up above my waist. I'll link some other places that sell them, so you can see other pictures.

I'm not too worried about a muffin top. I want control from my belly button down to the top of my pubic line. That is where the 'shelf' pushes itself out. It's nearly the opposite of a muffin top, in that the budge is under the waist line. OP sounds like she is looking for something similar.
Do these do that?

LunaNorth · 24/05/2023 14:50

The Sezane ones are really good. Thick material, stretchy, nice shape.

NiceSausage · 24/05/2023 14:51

I now have a new name for my 'shelf blob!"

Justkoko · 24/05/2023 16:33

I don't think the loose fitting ones would suit either but thank you. I'm short and rounded and I need things to be fitted fairly neatly or I could look pretty squat😆
That's why I keep going with the skinnies even though the Internet tells me I'm out of style😂
All this oversized stuff that has been in fashion recently is not a good look for me, I'd look like I was wearing my dad's jacket in some of the oversized blazers that are about at the moment!
To add, and I might end up doing another thread, where can I get a nice smart casual blazer that is fitted at the waist and neatly tailored? They're all so longline at the moment!

I just find that the magic trousers make my tummy look better, they don't disguise it as such but it's not so obvious, I look so much slimmer in them than I do in jeans. When I wear high waisted jeans I just tend to look more rounded, almost bloated and feel incredibly uncomfortable. Maybe I'm wearing the wrong jeans? The M & S Lily jeans are good on me but they don't flatter like my magics do.
