Hello those of you who are more aware of style trends & sources than I will ever be. I’m looking for a dress in a similar style to these as I really think they might work on me for an upcoming occasion but my pockets aren’t that deep. I haven’t seen anything similar elsewhere. My budget is (at a hard push) up to £150. I’m 56 and have struggled with a changing figure over the last 6-7 years….I’m tall (5’ 9”) with smallish boobs and a rather unwelcome stomach. I seem to have gone a little “matronly” & feel uncomfortable in things I wouldn’t previously have given a second thought to (menopause’s gift I guess). Thank you for any links.

& this one was worn on TV interior design challenge - it’s from the judging section, not a very good picture but I can’t find a better pic anywhere!

Why have they ruined that lovely dress by cutting the back out?

That dress is £499. OP's budget is £150.

Just a quick update. I really appreciate the ideas, some I liked, some I didn’t, but what it made me realise is I just need to start trying clothes on more so I ordered a whole range of stuff (get demoralised shopping in person which is probably why I have no clue) and ended up with a nobody’s child one that I liked tho a slightly different vibe. I’ve also follows few clothes people on Instagram & have started paying more attention to what other people wear (not in a judgy way, just to get my eye in). I get that this comes naturally to lots of people but definitely not to me (I’d be in the catch-up class!). I need to force myself to work on it, & seeing that there are people that can literally just suggest dresses on their own knowledge is quite inspiring. In my fantasy world I’d have a stylist but….🤣
