Root volume for air dried hair?

If I air dry my hair, the lengths tend to dry in beachy waves which is a style I really like. However, air drying keeps my roots really flat which overall looks crap, like a spaniel’s ears . Has anyone got any styling tips or product reccs that can give a bit of lift to the top without spoiling the waves on the lengths?

Can you put little clips in the root area around your head and then it'll dry encouraging lift at the roots? I have some of the "no crease" clips and just put them in - if you google root clipping for volume that might provide some inspo?

If you use your hairdryer with the diffuser on (if you haven't chucked it years ago!) and blow dry with your head upside down you'll get what you're after. Use a curling cream while hair wet and scrunch it dry for the last 20% or so.

Rinse the shampoo/conditioner out of your hair while bending forward and combing your hair away from your scalp. I airdry and this gives me longlasting root lift.

Thank you - all such great tips. I’m going to try them all!
