Heels for teen with narrow feet/slim ankles?

ittakes2 · 19/05/2023 17:07

My 16 almost 17 year old daughter needs heels for her prom dress (she prefers a mid heel as not worn them before).
But we have now tried on 6 pairs (including rainbow club) and she seems to have very narrow feet and slim ankles. Even shoes where the reviews say that overall people find the ankle bit too tight she would be on the tightest setting and they would still be lose.
Can anyone recommend some narrow heels please? I think we have given up on sandals and she needs something more fitting to stay on.
thank you

Carvella are narrow
I also have narrow feet and bird like ankles 🤣

Although she might not think they are fashionable enough!

Basically she needs an ankle strap to keep her feet in place and comfortable.

Thanks very much - I will look into Carvella - she has a long prom dress which will thankfully cover most of her shoes they just need to stay on!
thanks again

Skinny ankles and feet here. If your DD is set on sandals I take mine to the Timpson and get a couple of more holes punched in free of charge.

OnMyWayToSenility · 19/05/2023 17:49

Or heat a skewer and punch them in your self?

Also dune shoes are quite narrow too!

Even if you can tighten the ankle trap I tend to find my foot is rattling around in the rest of the shoe, doesn't fill the strap across the toe. On sandals my biggest tip is to size down. I take a 6 in closed toe shoes and boots because I am a 6 but in sandals I take a 5 and that tends to make them fit more snugly all over. As long as the toe isn't hanging over the edge.

I have had luck in Dune and Aldo. These aren't heels but are narrow.

Sandals wise these probably aren't dressy enough but they hug in the foot again sizing down.

Thank you - I went off to investigate and discovered we had already tried Carvella and too big!

I have slim feet and ankle and I always size down with strappy shoes and ensure they have an ankle strap!

I tried sizing down as well. her school shoes are a 7 we ended up with heeled sandals in a 6 but still too loose unfortunately - I am now thinking something enclosed but padded out with a foot insert.
I've noticed Meghan Markle has very slim ankles and feet too she must have the same problem!

James inglis and special feetures are specialist narrow fitting companies. Pricy though and not trendy!

ittakes2 · 19/05/2023 20:19

This is her prom dress but the emerald colour not the pink version - we are thinking black or silver or green shoes.

I presume you’ve tried heel grips that you stick inside the shoe?

I can’t work out why an ankle strap with more holes punched in won’t work.

CindersAgain · 19/05/2023 20:21

Ooh how about mules?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/05/2023 20:27

Try pretty little thing. DD got prom shoes there, they are always stupidly narrow from there. She got her first pair from Carvela but they were too wide.

BlameItOnTheGoose · 19/05/2023 20:30

I have the issue too. The only thing that ever helped was to use insoles, ie those soft cushiony ones. It's helps fill the shoe and keeps the feet tucked in snuggly so they don't pop out and get rubbed to shit.

But yeah I happily gave up wearing heels decades ago for this reason among others 🙂

Dontsayyouloveme · 19/05/2023 20:46

Have you tried an insole? Just to fill the shoe a bit more. It might stop her feet lifting out if the shoe.

Dontsayyouloveme · 19/05/2023 20:47

Oops just seen PP just mentioned insoles. 🤦🏻‍♀️

WithASpider · 19/05/2023 20:48

Have you tried New look? Their 'wide fit' is a D so I believe their regular fit is rather narrow.

YouHeardTheRumoursFromInes · 19/05/2023 21:01

River Island kids' shoes are narrow. I'm a narrow size 3 and shoes from there fit well. Not sure if the kid section goes up to a 6/7 but worth checking out.

Cyclingmummy1 · 19/05/2023 23:02

Gabor do a style called Callow which might for the bill. But not cheap.

An ankle strap with holes punched will fit her ankle - but like problem another poster has as well is the rest of the shoe is still too loose for her.
