What would you wear?

I’m meeting up with an old male friend in Italy by the beach for 1 week in June. Please dress me! I’m olive skinned, dark wavy haired, about 5 ft 6, size 10-12, muscular. I suit skirts rather than trousers. Late 40s.

What would you take? I like plain colours but florals are ok. Also need to think shoes.

Show me your suggested outfits, please!

Sounds lovely - and also a new romance maybe?

I’m off to Greece next week - I’m 51 and have got the following planned

2 wrap skirt and top co-ords
1 ruched shift dress
1 satin tulip shaped dress
1 metallic satin cami dress
2 pairs denim shorts
1 pair olive shorts
3 swimsuits
5 satin cowl cami tops various shades - nude, peach, cream, olive and black.

So lots of mix and matching. I could wear a cami top with one of the skirts from the co-ord or the co-it’s top with shorts etc.

Have fun!

Ooh if this isn’t explicit enough check out Mellisa Murrel on YouTube - she’s a stylist who puts together capsule wardrobes for a holiday etc.

I also will throw in a few v neck slouchy t shirts to throw over my swimsuit and shorts on the way to the pool - I like large opening neck ones which slouch over the shoulder.

Sorry forgot shoes!
Nude sliders for pool
Pale tan flat gladiator sandals
Cream padded high heel mules for dinner/drinks
Nike trainers if I feel like working out!

The above sounds perfect definitely pick a palette 3-4 colours and stick to that; definitely look to mix and match your items. Although I'd skip the heels and keep to flats as easier to walk to and from any dinners. Pinterest has loads of 'capsule wardrobe' articles, so that should help with quantity.

This thread has a load of dresses on - varying in price range if that helps - and is about the now-fabled breakfast dress, ie the dress you throw on in the hotel to get breakfast before going back to shower and get ready for the day.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/4782101-need-to-up-my-dressing-for-breakfast-on-holiday-game. On the high street H&M and M&S have definitely upped their linen game this year so worth checking out. I always think slouchy is better with high-street linen and cottons, so I'd recommend going up a size.

Other brands to have a look at
COS dresses and trousers work well

Seaside Tones do very lovely linen dresss
The outnet have an editorial on vacation clothes so good way to check out brands https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/list/vacation-shop (all the online ones will have similar so again good place to check out ideas and brands)

Yes agree to stick to a colour palette.
Mine is dusty blue, peachy nude, olive green, black and cream.
