Find me the perfect silver necklace

A few years ago I was burgled, and all my jewellery was taken. There are two things I really miss - a bangle my aunt gave me when i was wee, and the throw on with anything silver necklace.

I'm looking for a replacement for the latter. I don't know the words for jewellery, but I'm not looking for a single drop necklace, but one that's a full circle of silver bits. Something that looks fabulous peaking out under a crisp white shirt, and is equally at home over a tshirt.

I'd prefer an English designer, but it's not critical.

Budget is £2-300.

Where should I begin?

You could try here for some independent UK jewellery artists. If one has an overall style you like but they are not quite right then most will take commissions

Designers I love - you can see their work on Instagram, and most will take commissions

Barbara Tipple
Claire Elizabeth Kilgour
Chupi (more gold though and £££)
Tide and Trove
Emily Nixon
Jason Jones (going to commission him this summer to make a bangle from my old silver)

Thankyou so much for the links, everyone. I'm gradually working my way through them.

I'm looking for something classic, I think. Sorry - I don't know the words, which doesn't help. But something I'll still be wearing in 30 years time.

I really miss my old jewellery.

Okay some specifics. Loving Barbara Tipple but, uhhh, significantly over budget. Sadly.

The ocean depths chain isn't classic enough for what I'm after.

Some of these are too chainmail like which, again, isn't quite right.

This I love, but I'm not sure if it's too delicate. https://lucykempjewellery.co.uk/collections/sterling-silver-necklaces-1/products/sterling-silver-small-nugget-necklace And I'm not sure if the chunky version is too chunky.

This is really pretty but, at that price, I'm assuming it's junk https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1276207716/silver-disc-necklace-textured-silver?click_key=526ce13a0129c0c98537c48b7cc95cec8c810651%3A1276207716&click_sum=b5273720&ref=user_profile&frs=1 It's probably too delicate, too. I like the hammered texture, though.

Claire Elizabeth Kilgour doesn't have many necklaces, and they're pendants not complete circles (see, I said I didn't know the words). Same with Chupi.

Thankyou. Still going through the suggestions, which are all much appreciated.

This I like, but it's way out of budget. I'd be scared to wear anything that expensive. Also I don't love it enough to spend that much on https://www.emilynixon.com/products/tangle-silver-necklace (It's also longer than I would want, but I'm guessing that would be solveable).

I know, I'm fussy!

Oh, so you want a chain that's not a traditional chain link?

Oh, so you want a chain that's not a traditional chain link?

I want a necklace that's lots of small bits going round the neck in a circle, rather than one pendant on a chain that hangs down in a V. But not a chain. I'm sorry. I don't know how to put that into words.

If English can be stretched to Scotland then it might be worth a look at Ortak. They have a few necklets which have a design all/most of the way round the neck. May not be quite what you’re after though as they don’t do the nugget sort of chains. They do take commissions though! https://www.ortak.co.uk/collections/necklets

Have a look at "multi drop necklace" on Google - that looks like the Etsy one you linked to? Is that the style you want?

Look at Dower&Hall.

Not what you're referring too but have a look at liquid silver necklaces. I think they're very versatile and vary in price depending on the number of strands.

almostoverthehill · 17/05/2023 23:44

Have you looked on Not On The High Street?

SparePantsAndLego · 17/05/2023 23:47

This isn’t a chain but it does have silver bits all the way round. I’ve got a couple of her pieces and I love them. This is my current favourite

Can you get someone to make an exact copy of the one you had stolen?

Motorina · 18/05/2023 10:14

@ImAvingOops - probably, if I had decent close up photos of it, but...

@SparePantsAndLego those I really really like. Thank you. I could see me wearing one a lot. Do they look as lovely in person as on the screen, please? That's definitely what I mean by 'silver bits all the way round' (although I hadn't thought about stones as well).

No to the liquid silver necklace (not my taste!) and also to the paperclip chains. They remind me too much of teen goth me making necklaces out of real paperclips!

Thank you, everyone, for all the links and suggestions. I am working my way through them all...
