Best face cream for dry skin

My face is so dry. It always is, particularly my forehead and nose. My skin itself isn't too bad, clear and not oily but so so dry. Can anyone recommend a really good cream to get rid of the flakiness?

I really like weleda skin food

gordonpym · 15/05/2023 18:50

I would say Nutrix from Lancôme.

Earwegoagain · 15/05/2023 21:20

Cerave moisturising cream a MN recommendation that actually works. Soaks in, isn’t greasy. Great cream!

I have dry sensitive skin and I've got on well with the aloe day cream from body shop and the hemp face protector is incredibly moisturising too. I really wanted the CBD cream as it's meant to be so good but annoyingly it's out of stock every time I go in there... which obviously makes me want it more lol

I had dry and flaky skin. I use a balm cleanser, then do a glycolic acid cotton wool wipe, then niacinimide and hyaluronic acid serums, and for moisturiser i use a nivea night time one in the day, followed by spf. If I'm going to wear foundation then I apply that on top with a bit of elizabeth arden nighttime miracle cream, but i know purple on hereuse vaseline in the same way. I haven't tried it as i used to get acne. I do the same routine before bed minus the spf and foundation. My skin stopped being flaky within a few days of doing this. It's been yrs now but i still love touching my face.

I started using CeraVe after having covid. The tub lasts for ages and you don’t need much of it and it soaks in well. It’s really sorted out all my dry skin.

ArseMenagerie · 15/05/2023 21:25

Cicaplast Baumé B5 from La Roche Posay

i have vvv dry skin too

Outdamnspot23 · 15/05/2023 21:27

Lush has some amazing stuff, try Dream Cream or Celestial

I really like Kiehl's Ultra Facial.
I use a cleansing balm first, glycolic acid then The Inkey List Hydraulic Acid before the Kiehl's and it helps my skin.

When my skin is really dry I use Snail Mucin (I know sounds rank but it's really good) in my routine as well.

Also, it's expensive but I've used Dermatica Exfoliating Powder to clear up flakey patches quickly, Indeed Labs do a version of it.

I second weleda, also love the cloud cream by aimee connolly!

BusterGonad · 17/05/2023 10:25

The best cream I've ever used was the Nuxe facial comfort balm, and the prodigieuse eye cream in the pink pump bottle.

Vicliz24 · 17/05/2023 10:35

I second the Nuxe comfort balm . I've just bought my umpteenth jar , it's fabulous stuff.

PinkFootstool · 17/05/2023 10:36

I use this at night when I'm struggling with dry skin: Dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask 30 ml https://amzn.eu/d/4UW7RKR

I got it in a beauty box years ago and used it after a bad cold where my nose and lips were really chapped. Woke up in the morning with new skin! I use it almost medicinally these days, brilliant stuff. You don't need a lot, a 30ml tube goes a long way.

StarryNightAddict · 17/05/2023 10:42

I didn’t like weleda skin food, too thick and sticky. I think they do a light version though.

I like Tatcha dewy skin if you have no budget. It is pricey.

I also use snail mucin, can get it cheap on Amazon.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/05/2023 10:57

Drops of Light peel from Body Shop,it's the gentlest exfoliator ever and perfect for sensitive, dry skin with flakes. Then use CeraVe moisturiser.

dontgobaconmyheart · 17/05/2023 11:32

I've always had dry skin so have cycled my way through most things. It's so hard to strike a balance between it being hydrating enough and feeling too heavy or greasy.

The best I've tried by far is the Eucerin 5% urea facial cream and it's what I go back to. Might not be glamorous but it works well under makeup, isn't heavy at all and sinks in well with no greasy feeling.

buckingmad · 17/05/2023 11:35

Weleda skin food without a doubt. The heavy one. If I'm not wearing makeup then I put it on the night before for it to soak in as it can be a bit greasy, then just use a normal light moisturiser with SPF for the day. If I am wearing makeup then I use a bit as a base as it makes a nice dewy base for makeup to sit on.
