Love Double wear but it's drying me out

I love double wear. Nothing comes close to coverage or staying power but as I've gotten older, it's started to look heavy on my face and my fine lines seem to more noticeable.

Is there anything anyone can recommend to put under or over it to try and keep my skin looking more supple? Or at least allow me to smile with out looking like a crispy ball bag.

Or is it time to move on from my beloved 😫

Used it for years and it actually dried my skin out long term.

These are the ones I use and really like now

Rummel 25hr serum lasting finish

Estee lauder futurist hydra rescue foundation

Maybelline dream satin radiant

Am looking to try the max factor 3 in one next as heard really things about it

I mix my double wear with moisturiser and that seems to really help. You still get the coverage but it doesn’t dry out as much and sink into my lines.

I mix mine 50/50 with Clarins SOS Primer. The colourless SPF one. It's a lovely glowy look.

mycatsanutter · 14/05/2023 20:30

It did the same to me too , really accentuated the lines round my eyes , I changed to The Ordinary but after a while couldn't find my shade anywhere so changed to Rimmel which I'm very happy with

I use the Estee lauder futurist hydra rescue foundation too. Its excellent & you can dial up & down the coverage. Same shades as DW. Go get a sample, the little bottles they give you will do a few days so you get a good idea of how it will work for you.

Gah ELDW is the worst for over 50 skin. I see women wearing it because they always gave and it looks shocking. So aging.
EL futurist
Givenchy glowy one in the round bottle
Dior forever glow or forever nude
Chanel No.1
There are loads of newer formulations that don't transfer but are much more skin like than DW

Mac setting spray, ‘fix it’ over the top

agree double wear is bomb!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/05/2023 20:33

Futurist - gorgeous stuff. I've been known to mix a bit of that and a bit of DW together too.

Proudofitbabe · 14/05/2023 20:38

Watching with interest. Still can't find a foundation that can last the day as well as DW.

I find EL Futurist goes on well and has a good finish but it's nothing like the staying power as DW. Nice foundation but not a replacement for me.

dudsville · 14/05/2023 20:40

I use the camouflage, it's super drying, so after i cleanse (balm cleanser), do a swipe with a pad of glycolic acid, then some serums, then moisturiser with spf, i then add a layer of EA nighttime miracle moisturiser. It's a vaseline type balm and it makes it easier to apply foundation, i get a bit of healthy glow. It does reduce the products staying power a bit though.

Thanks girls! I have a tendency to touch my face alll the time so I definitely need a non transferable foundation and I like the idea of looking a little more dewy.

As anyone tried the Armani one? I think it's called liquid silk

Luminous Silk? I think it's awesome but the coverage is lighter than DL. You might be able to build it up to a similar effect, I guess.

There is a No 7 foundation that is apparently a great dupe for the Luminous Silk, though I haven't tried it.

AlbaAurora · 14/05/2023 21:00

L'Oréal 32 hour infallible foundation with a moisturising primer I have found to be quite good. It's more lightweight which is nice. Plus only a third of the price.

Kickingupmerrybehaviour · 14/05/2023 21:06

I mix it with Ct flawless filter. Looks a lot nicer

I do this too.

There’s a brand called BPefect

they have a foundation called chroma… it’s amazing! I always had DW and this covers so well, it’s not drying and lasts all
day. Plus you only need a small amount.
