Which type of false nails are best?

I'm off on holiday next week and haven't had false nails for years. I'm wanting some nice nail art so thought I would treat myself but I'm so confused with gel, acrylic, shellac etc😅 I don't want super long ones, just some that will last at least the week and look nice, can anyone recommend which type I should choose? Thanks

If you don't want added length then just get gel on your own nails
Gel is basically shellac, shellac is a brand name.

For that I'd get a BIAB base and a gel colour / design, the BIAB helps me have zero chips even after a four week gap between my last appointments 😊

Awesome thank you for the replies😊 I do t want to be messing around painting then while I'm away!

Do you want extra length? If not, biab for sure.

I wouldn't mind a bit of extra length, mainly just so they are all the same length as I have some very short ones at the minute but need them to also be practical for when I'm doing my make up etc

If you want more length then gel tips but they will damage your nails. If you live without the tips, biab.

Gel tips do not damage your nails. Incorrect removal does.

BIAB/Shellac/Gelish/Geleration/Bio Sculpture/Gel Bottle (take a breather) have NEVER worked for my nails. They always chip and peel off, always. The only thing that works for me is acrylic with gel over the top. I don’t have them super long as I need to be able to do stuff but, depending on your nails, gel might not be enough on its own.

Your nails only get damaged by poor removal techniques. Mine are completely normal and I've had acrylics for years. Sometimes I let them grow out and cut/file them off as they grow and my nails are completely fine. My nail tech is very careful. Never buffs aggressively

Just go somewhere in person to book, so you can describe what you want and they can book you in for what will achieve that.

Its the easiest way if you’re not sure 😊

Definitely Biab base (they can do short extensions with this as well by applying it over nail forms) with gel polish on top. If I put gel polish on my actual nails it chips off so quickly but with biab it lasts for 3 weeks ish.

Acrylics with gel polish also brill and last for ages but I think they damage your nails more? Hence why I was advised to switch to biab after years of acrylic

Acrylic is the only thing that stays on my nails with gel polish over the top. Long lasting, extra length Nd sturdy. I find last better in and out the pool too

Magenta65 · 13/05/2023 19:20

Acrylic doesn’t damage any more than other nail products it’s down to the application and the removal that cause damage. If it’s a 1 off you’ll be find
