Help please - hugely swanky black tie thing in the USA

Hello - I’m going mad looking for dresses for a mega swank awards thing in a few weeks.
i usually hire but don’t want to in case my luggage gets lost.

Want to look cool not frumpy
budget £185 or under

Looked at all the main places and even ordered loads but yo no avail

All help appreciated

Have you attended the same or a similar event before?

If you don’t live in the US - might it not be an idea to buy something once you’re there?

Yes I have attended a very similar event over here - it’s proper black tie. For that I hired a really expensive vampire wife dress.
I’m flying in for the event so won’t have time to buy there. It’s so stressful

Hire and carry in your hand luggage.

Hiring seems sensible for an event like this. You won’t find anything that looks mega swanky for £185. I’d also take it hand luggage if I was worried about it.
