Where can I find a smart shirt for 14yr old DS?

I’m looking for a smart shirt for a 14yr old boy similar to those sold by retailers such as Charles Tyrwhitt. I bought the one in the photo in the smallest collar size (14.5”) but rest of the shirt is huge. I really like the pattern on this one but other shirts for teenagers at various shops are either too casual or plain colours. Is it possible to buy men’s style shirts for younger teenagers? This is for wearing with a suit for an upcoming event.

Next?

We got my son a shirt from there but he does wear mens medium. I think they go down to a xs though.

You can't. Shops simply don't cater for this age/size. Too big for kids but too small for men's.

Next & M&S may have something but when shopping for my brother's wedding we really struggled to clothe tall DS13!

FluffyHamster · 12/05/2023 22:36

The problem you'll have at the moment is that most of the shirts have button-down collars!

You might have to settle for a plain blue school shirt?

Have a look at next online. I recently got my eldest who is a tall 13yr old a smart one from them. Do click and collect if possible and order a few sizes to try on in store then just pop whatever doesn't fit into the online returns in store

Thanks everyone. I’ll take a look at the recommendations. XS sizing might be the answer although the one I bought was slim fit, the overall size was too big. He’s a pretty average sized 14 yr old. Slim but not skinny and around 5’6-7.
His school shirts are blue but they look like school shirts (unsurprisingly) so not ideal.

MANGO Teen range have some nice shirts!

unlikelychump · 13/05/2023 05:00

Tk maxx?

Microphonequeen · 13/05/2023 07:18

The fit makes a difference. CT probably classic fit? Maybe try slim or ultra slim fit. I agree with TK Maxx suggestion.

wildfirewonder · 13/05/2023 07:22

I agree look for slim or super slim fit.

You can select sleeve length as well which is even more important.

I think from Tyrwhitt you would need to order Extra Slim (Skinny) fit. I am not at all thin but I find their shirts billow. Their size guide tells you more

They have occasional special offers so register as a customer.

There is a remarkably similar range at Brook Taverner, which I also use. If you are a regular customer they may offer you a free shirt on your birthday. Teens grow fast so I would begrudge paying full price. They have some in cotton twill which is heavier than poplin and hangs very well.

I don't usually buy at M&S but they have a vast range of sizes in their basic office shirts, you have to order online as a shop probably wouldn't carry them all. I have only used them for white shirts.

Charles Tyrwhitt understands that everyone has varying body shapes and sizes, that's why we offer different fits to suit all.

Have you tried H&M? I've bought my teen sons some really nice slim fit shirts from there before.

shoofly · 16/09/2023 22:03

Next do an XS slim fit which I've bought for teen DS
