Suddenly all my clothes feel like fancy dress

I have always worn vintage and second hand clothing, loved looking alternative.

But then lockdown, pregnancy, maternity and practicalities with a baby happened and I started living in leggings, joggers etc,

But I now feel totally lost with what my style is or should be. When I put clothes on from 3/4 years ago, I feel like I am wearing fancy dress. I just dont think I can pull it off anymore? I am almost 40 and my body shape is different post partum.

How the hell do I start from scratch?

To make it harder, I am plus size and not exactly rolling in money.....

I don’t know about starting from scratch, but maybe one of these might spark some interest:

Can you define your terms more narrowly? Plus size - what size? What sort of budget?

You could just buy everything from Uniqlo while you catch your breath and accustom yourself to a new shape.

Thanks! I am 22/24 and 5'10.

I feel like I hid behind tights and skirts, wouldnt know how to wear trousers. I feel like I look like Jim Royle.

If you’ve been slouching around in leggings for a few years, you’ve probably just got used to looking a bit less interesting, rather than your vintage clothes not suiting you anymore.
I recommend putting on your gladrags and wearing them to the corner shop a few times until they feel normal again.
I had the same thing after I changed my job and had to dress in scruffy tracksuits all the time. I had to get used to dressing up again.
I bet you still look great, regardless of any postpartum changes. Start with a nice summer dress.
